Hi,there are the newer Finless 1.8 from Bob(fixes a lot, must read his whole post-only saw interlace problem on a few okes in beginning) and the Stock Acemax as well as the Lifeforce roms;-) All available from FreaktabWhat alternate roms exist for the M8 - I know of finless bob's 1.7 rom at freaktab.com
So Matricom is releasing stable 1.2 firmware for the MX but it won't be rooted. Anyone willing to root the firmware and upload the rooted version once the firmware is released?

@AVSupply... same issue accessing the internet content with the new firmware as well.
so decided to do some testing with Network & cpu overlays.. Below is what i found.
Accessing content on LAN
I tried steaming various files over the LAN accessing it from my PC and it works fine without any issues.
When the video player starts, you get a burst of download speed which goes up to 2.3Mbps and that it stay over 1 Mbps giving smooth picture playback.
Main CPU usage is done by the movie player in use.
Accessing content over the internet
When accessing internet based content, you get a burst of download speed going up to 350kbps and than it hover round 80kbps. This causes buffering issue.
Main CPU usage used is caused by two processes named "System_server" & "Surfaceflinger" respectively.
when i try to kill this processes, it causes the box to reboot.
so it seems that it might be software related issue rather than hardware side.
what do you guys think?
Can I suggest you ask in the freaktab forum? The firmware guys know the way around the system and might be able to assist
I'm going to test internet based stuff over the next few days to see if I can replicate. If it ends up being a hardware fault, we will gladly do a replacement drop off and collect
not at home to check. can you toggle data on and off like on an android device. I don't want to worry about my capped data during the day. when I stream I would like to toggle it back on again. I know jellybean has the mobile data toggle but not sure if it works for wifi. alternatively I suppose switching wifi off would do the same thing.
I try to keep it powered off but I don't feel like lecturing the rest of the family. besides they just watch local stuff. but when I see it on im always wondering how much data its using.
