The Droid TV thread

how you mean support fees?

Not all firmware support and upgrades are free. This unit was created to fund development by subscription and membership. Most places do this for free. This is for its creators to get something for their effort. They didnt make any money from the hardware, just the support and improvements. Some vendors include a one year membership others dont - depends on where you buy the box.

Wow, didn't know that. good looking out:p

Can you connect a wireless Xbox 360 controller to these DroidTV's?

It turns out that game controller support was missing on the MG582 :(

Not anymore :) I patched the latest firmware to support USB and Bluetooth joysticks. Tested using a wired PS3 controller and Wireless Xbox 360 controller + USB adapter, and both worked beautifully

**Thanks to Jvan for sending me the firmware link

Of course! :)

See product page for all the changes I've made

This looks like a great device, how do you roll out your customised updates, or does it update automatically?
Can you confirm if DSTVNow will work on the device? I have had limited success on my MX2 (I can get it registered and watch catchup, but no liveTV)

Firmware notifications are announced on this thread and via email

I'll confirm soon if DSTV Now works

Hi guys, does anyone know of any cheap NAS devices which can be used as a Plex server for transcoding and storage? I'm looking for something that doesn't cost a kidney, draws little power and offers redundancy like an RAID set or similar . Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance. J

HP MicroServer

I've seen them sell for R1800 or less

I've got a weird issue the past few days when I try to watch a movie
when I try to watch a movie from XBMC the picture displays zoomed and off center. Is like the movie is divided into four quarters and you are watching the first quadrant.
I need to restart the machine a couple of times before it plays correctly.
This is a new issue- what is causing this?

That is a strange one

Here are some suggestions

(1) Try a different HDMI cable / port on your TV
(2) Manually change to a different output resolution, test, then switch back

Thx for the reply J
I've tried 1- that doesn't sort the issue.
To check 2, is this in general settings of the mx2 or in xbmc? and what is the setting supposed to be?

Just remind me, are you on the latest Matricom firmware?

On the previous version there was a colourful settings menu. One of the options is Display, change from Auto to Manual, and set your resolution to 720p (if it was 1080p)

Sorry dunno what firmware I'm on- will need to check when I'm home.
Also if I change to 720p will I be able to watch full HD movies?
