The Droid TV thread

Why may I ask? Had mine for a year and it's perfect.

To get dstv to work enable widevine in the buildprop file. Google for more info. Relatively simple job.

Oh and get an airmouse, stock remote is awful

Also have not had an issue with my Mygica..

My player (Mygica ATX582) came with the widevine enabled by default.. I needed to change nothing to get dstv and showmax to work.

agreed about the remote

When I got home yesterday, the dstv now app worked... Did nothing new. its the 1.27.something version... Also saw it wanted to update the firmware to 20161205 version, but when i click OK, the update starts, then the android robot loads, then reboots, then wants to do the update over and over again. Update says its to make the system an unrooted system.

The mouse key on the remote does not work, or I cannot get it to work. Plugged in a normal wireless mouse which works fine. Just do not see any advantage it has over a connected mini pc... ABC on Kodi alse gives errors, it loads the series, then the episode, the gives an video not available kind of error. The weather widget is still a country I do not know... Chrome does not stream dstv, only the app does, on the app you cannot control the sound with the mouse as it is designed for smartphones, whereas on chrome you can.

Ill keep it a couple more days to play around with it. Have a JVC smart tv in the room which is CRAP, maybe ill hook it up to that one.

Which firmware version running. Will be easier for him to flash new firmware to fix DSTV and Showmax

I have that first one. Not too happy with it. My primary gripes are, no stop button (only play/pause, skip etc.), and the mouse disable button loses its state after a while (example, I would disable the mouse functionality as the OK button doubles as the left mouse click in order to use it as a full remote, and then after a while I'd want to do something else and then you have to press the stupid button again because it resets itself to default airmouse mode).

When skipping backwards or forwards something would go wonky and the command gets repeated infinitely until you press a button again- for example, trying to skip/rewind 10 seconds or so when missing a piece of dialogue, the damn thing would rewind all the way to the start of the movie. It also uses removable AAA batteries whereas my Rii has a rechargeable battery.

Minor gripes, but do keep it in mind.

Other than that, the range is [slightly] better than my Rii i25 mini, so that's a plus.

Thanks for the feedback!

Press and hold the mouse disable button for +-3 seconds. The LED should flash quickly before giving a slow blink at the 3 second mark. After that the mouse should be in a permanent sleep state

There were a few versions of the MX3 remote released, so hopefully this suggestion works on yours

It doesn't- I've found this same piece of advice before and have already tried it.
Granted, I was using the remote on a droid box back then and on Windows now, so I'll try again- but I doubt it would make a difference.

I'll see if there's another way

Yes, auto frame-rate switching works in RKMC(Kodi), RK Video Player(the stock video player) and I think MXPlayer.
If your video frame-rate is 24/25/30/50/60 and your screen resolution is 720/1080p@60hz then it can switch the screen to the frame-rate of the video before playback.
On a similar more expensive RK3288 device that use the same base firmware and a different chipset but from the same chipset manufacturer, a user is busy helping with troubleshooting of DSTV Now.
We saw from the logs, it detected some kind of root(even if unrooted) and after a while managed to bypass that problem.
Now it is complaining about some Acodec problem, that is some kind of codec for sound and part of libstagefright.
Netflix had a similar issue a year ago with some Acodec error but it was fixed.
I have send logs through to the manufacturer and they will investigate it soon.
All of this was on Lollipop firmware.
I have no idea if the situation is different on Marshmallow firmware since no one could test yet, would be great if someone could.
The user did mention DSTV Now is working in Chrome browser but not in the DSTV Now app currently because of that error we are still waiting for feedback for.
The SS app also plays highlights, I don't have an account so can't test the live feeds.
Netflix and Showmax also work fine.
Saw 1.8 firmaware is out. Have you tested it xmbcfan? Is this the marshmallow firmware?

Will it sort out all issues with ss and dstv now? Ss just gives error.
Dstv now says device registered to previous user. Not sure how to get around that.

Showmax says device rooted. Unrooted under ugoos settings but still nothing.

I have the Nagrace hph nt v6

Model Ugoos Ut3s.

How to possibly get Widevine L1 working.

Might work with Showmax :p

Hi

It is still Lollipop, but I can help you install Marshmallow too if interested.
The Netflix audio out of sync is fixed in the v1.8 firmware.
Kodi also runs much better, tested Kodi 17 nightly and NTMC.
It uses new DRM code, so I think apps will work differently.
I used Showmax in the past and didn't get a rooted message, maybe Ugoos firmware works differently, don't have Showmax at the moment to test.
For SS, try Chrome browser in the v1.8 firmware and let me know if it works.
DSTV Now registered to a previous owner, never seen that before but will be interesting to see what it says on the v1.8 firmware. You can install syslog app and get the logs if DSTV, SS is not working then I can check it.
Another user with HPH NT-V6 has DSTV Now fully working and SS in Chrome, so it does support it.
You can PM me after testing the firmware then I can help, will be easier.
I heard Ugoos will also release a new firmware soon, should be before the end of the year.
At the moment the v1.8 firmware is better than the v3.0.7 Ugoos one.

Overall not too happy with mygica. Bought it from Makro, hope I can go and return it for a refund. Will rather keep on using the laptop to stream.

Also bought one from Makro about 2 weeks ago. Kodi streams when it feels like. I don't think it's Mygica that is the problem though based on what I've googled.

Rumour has it New Nvidia Shield Box at CES2017 sure it will be a monster..
