I bought one of those from you. It's finicky, if I'm honest. While I did manage to get it working, it was only some of the times- 95% of the time I could only get stereo output- it has to do with the source file audio encoding- if it's not in exactly the right format (AC-3 or DTS) it simply doesn't work and you get stereo only. Even some of my AC-3 and DTS encoded files wouldn't output to 5.1, even though the device supports it.

There was also a slight buzzing when the speakers was connected to said unit- though only noticeable when playback is stopped (like when browsing for the next file to play).

I've yet to test it using my windows pc to see if the issues were [also] related to the droid box I had at the time, though somehow I doubt it.

Hi SykomantiS,

Did you restart the device after changing the output setting? Please let me know if you have issues with your other devices. If faulty, we will arrange for it to be swapped out

It's not a new purchase, it was quite a while ago (Thursday 26 May, 2016, to be precise) and I'm not using it at this time (I've also sold the droid box which it was supposed to be used with).

I did restart it, and I tried just about every combination of software encoding/passthrough and device switch setting I could think of at the time.

I'm not so sure it's faulty so much as it is limited in its ability to properly decode the audio (I think the chip used in the unit isn't all that great).

I will test it again on the pc when I get the time.

SS app doesn't work but the Now app *should*may*possibly*could* work when you enable Widevine(works on mine).

You can watch SS via Chrome though.

I'll enable widevine when I get home today and see if it works. The word I am looking for is WILL work :D but no harm in trying

When trying to watch SS via chrome is gives me the unexpected error message though.
 
Let me clarify things around the MyGica ATV582... First you need to be on the latest firmware V002M801_20160720 No other fiddling like turning on widevine etc is required.

You require the following version of apps which are available on the interwebz:
Dstv Now 1.22.1
SS 4.0.5 (only video highlights work but you can stream through dstv now)

I too wouldn't recommend the default home launcher and instead highly recommend SquareHome.Tablet where only your imagination is the limit as to what your Home screen can look like. Check out YouTube for some inspiration.

My v6 running nicely with 1.8a firmware.

Dstv now working nicely on bad line... 2mbps. Kodi also no issues.

Realised that a cheap usb male-male cable wont work. Got a decent one at govan mani and picked up the box.

In need of a game pad/controller for hph v6. Any suggestions?

Trying to play asphalt 8 but even on firefly app on gamepad it doesnt work properly. Most games has a similar issue.

So the MyGica series have no problem playing most formats off a flash drive/external? Yeah kack question, but I have to make sure :o

No 4K@60hz, no 10-bit h264, no VP9 support, no H265 hardware decoding.
The CPU was already discontinued by Amlogic a while ago, they now only manufacturer S905,S912.
If you only play 1080p h264 videos you should be fine, but with newer formats you will have a problem.
 
I got myself a 4x2 hdmi switch. Works a treat but the PS 4 refuses to show up on the remote TV. It works fine on the local TV. Any ideas on why? It works fine when connected directly to the remote tv cable or when connected to my 1:2 hdmi splitter but nothing shows up remotely on this 4x2 switch. Wonder if it's latency related?
I also have the new Explora 2 but the remote refuses to work with my old remote blaster... weird

Distance to remote TV?

What happens if you do the following

(1) Power on PS4 and connect it to Remote TV using the HDMI cable
(2) Change resolution on PS4 to 720p, wait for it to sync on remote TV and disconnect HDMI cable (Keep PS4 powered on)
(3) Connect HDMI cable to 4x2 output and connect PS4 with shorter HDMI cable to 4x2 Switch

Does that work?

Also, do you have an EDID button on the 4x2, and have you played with the available options?

The cable is 15m long.
I will give that a shot as soon as grandkids are done with Mario Kart on Wii U :)

Switch does support EDID but no button that I can see. NM - it has EDID switches on the right hand side.

Switched to 720p and problem solved. Probably just the distance then. Happy with 720p.

Glad I could help :)

It might not be a permanent fix though, as the PS4 always goes into auto mode when handshaking with a new TV, so you might need to repeat the process after using your Primary TV.
