Corruption effects the poor far more then wealthier citizens. Not sure why you care so much

Why shouldn't he care about seeing value for his tax money? I don't mind if it goes towards social development and upliftment as I'm in a position where I don't mind making use of private facilities and services in the short term. What I do mind is when it is squandered for the private benefit of a few politically connected individuals. And if the general public is too stupid (yes stupid) to vote against this, then there is nothing wrong with seeking an alternative elsewhere. Let them suffer as it seems to be what they want...

After I pay my taxes, I care very little what happens to them as long as I get the service I expect

So it's all about you. OK then. The opposite of nationbuilding there. Well done on your honesty though.

Easy to say when you're sitting comfortably in the WC, and at least see some value for your money.

Been to GP quite often and it seems pretty decent (Albeit not a well run as WC). The other provinces, well, they seem a bit more useless

Ah yes, another one for my ignore list. I must say I'm liking this time of the year. It makes it easier to spot the looneys.

I'm out, have sort of been asked to leave as I have to decided on which citizenship to give up and this makes it that much easier....

Where you headed?

They don't care enough to change it, which makes it continue to be a problem, including for me.

Nope. I'm a realist. Trying to imagine a scenario where JZ steps down gracefully and his supporters don't end up in jail, and not succeeding. Perhaps you can paint a scenario that will help me?

I think what's more likely is a law that makes him immune from prosecution post-office.

That violates the constitution and bill of rights though...

Plan was not to leave so nowhere really [kid only finishes school end of this year]. Just thought that it was nice of my country to tell me that my dual citizenship was declined and I thus had to pick one or the other so have decided to let my SA one go. Still have permanent residency here so do not have to pack up and go quite just yet.

If I do have to go then a couple of choices. Have permanent residency in Honk Kong, Singapore, Mauritius and now in the Caribbean. New citizenship allows for visa free travel and stays in almost all counties [incl. all of Europe] so doubt whether I will settle in a single place.

Which is why Zuma wants to change the Constitution... ;)

My point is that he'll have more success trying to get the party on that train than on the President For Life one.

Perhaps the ANC "The Power" will go ahead without amending the Constitution, we all know every case with Zuma is pro-longed. Besides this I am very sure that he will get to keep all his "personal" belongings paid by the Treasury. A question that I do have, how long until the two Zulu kings clash?

I really doubt he wants to.
The changing the Constitution is a fun little monster used by both the ANC and DA to rile up supporters. If they wanted it changed, it would have been changed by now

You speak of the ANC as if it's a monolithic, unchanging, homogeneous organisation.
The ANC of today is as far removed from the ANC of 20 years ago as Soweto is from Houghton.

I care regardless of whether I get the service I expect (and I don't). My money is to be used for the running of the country, and uplifting the poor. It seems a large portion is not spent on either of those things, and therefore I care.
