The ANC wants to take farms without paying for them, so does the EFF, even if they just agree on this one thing it will be enough.

This hysterical paranoia is getting a bit ridiculous now. SO many times in the past, the ANC has been able to get a 2/3 vote on something in the NA if it wants. Yet nothing has happened. Couple that with the fact that they now have the DA and EFF as opposers in the NA, I don't see anything drastic happening.

Edit: Also interesting to see how much faith investors have in the ruling party! Check the market indicators at the moment :)

And once again, is ZUMA'S ANC the same as the ANC that had 66% before?

Keep telling yourself that.
Secrecy bill
Nkandla
Arms Deal
Next arms deal
Continuation of Nkandla
The list goes on, and if they get the 2/3's who will stop them?
Keep living under that rock, thinking there are no negatives with them getting 2/3's

I'm not sure that government really wants to redistribute farm land. They are balancing on a tight rope. They have to publicly endorse redistribution of farm land to keep the electorate happy but behind the scenes, they are very concerned about South Africa's long term food security. I've spoken with someone on the inside and suffice it to say that projections are that by 2025, South Africa may no longer be able to feed its growing population, and government are very reluctant to rock the boat any further by interfering with agriculture.

What can you do about it?
Voting doesn't seem to help against a sea of idiots. These ANC followers voting for the same party they complain about, reminds me of a man visiting the dominatrix every fortnight. He screams every time it hurts but guess what, in 2 weeks time he'll be back for more.

We're stuck in Africa, where African mentality rules the day from sunrise to sunset. Adapt, embrace and live...or die trying

Sorry to say bud, it won't be because of a growing population, it will be as a result of less farmers. You know, the murdered ones and those who gave up farming for that reason and ridiculous costs as a result of bad economy and government interference. FFS Checkers already import fresh milk!

Problem is so many are too fat and lazy to get off their asses and go vote.
If every single person did their duty then perhaps things would change.
Its the old 80/20 rule hey?
20 percent doing the work for the rest of the zombies

Agreed. I looked a registered votes Vs Valid casted votes. If every registered voter voted.. we could have seen change!

Where's the forumites who said the EFF will not get anywhere?

How many seats they have now? 24 seats

I dont remember seeing that. Perhaps you could link to it?

I will say, they seriously under performed. I was expecting 10%

Or one could argue that this newcomer have more votes than the IFP, UDM, NFP and VF+ combined

Quite interesting to compare the Provincial elections from 2009 to 2014 (especially the WC and NC). I know the results aren't 100% finalised yet but it seems like a number of municipalities have switched from DA to ANC majorities. Yet the DA still seems to have increased it's overall support in the WC!? But I guess the final vote counts still need to come in!

Edit: Anyone know to make these intext and not attached links..? I feel dumb :/

Also remember in 2009, Cope managed near 8% of the total vote after only being around for 4 months. A lot of that vote will have gone DA this year, but the total gains of the EFF and DA and the loss of the ANC don't match entirely, so I'm quite sure there have been some more people voting this year who would not have voted for any of the above parties before.
