Holding on by a thread, house of cards, call it what you will, but that is the reality. They have come up with more and more outrageous methods to keep it all afloat for so long, but there is only so much you can do before the inevitable happens. Definitive predictions or date setting are tricky though because as I said you never know what they will come up with next, so when people say "Yah we've heard it all before and look things are still the same.", all you can say is look at the fundamentals, and well, they are not the same, in 2008/9 if they hadn't printed trillions it would have all collapsed, but you don't ever hear that in the mainstream press.
