The Ford Ranger (T6) Thread

Hahahahahaha. I have not seen it as of yet, not that Im looking foward to it should it happen. Even if it does it will be worth it, going out happy in a ball of fire

TBH, I am a big Isuzu an Toyota fan, heck one of my cars is a Tuna.
But I do like the look of the new Ranger.
Much better than the Hilux, new Nervana Isuzu or the new Isuzu bakkie

I grew up only with Isuzu on the farm and those things are bullet proof but the only thing that put me off is the 5 speed manual gearbox as I could not afford the top of the range model.

I would really like to know why they even opted for a 5 speed box and then theres also their power output which is so much lower than the other bakkies on the market currently available.

Don't tempt me daemon!!

I love me Tuna, during the week the SO takes little sugar to school and her self to work.
I work out of town and take the Tazz, more fuel efficient

So I took delivery of my new Ranger 2.2 xl Auto on Wednesday and although I grew up on a farm driving bakkies daily this thing is HUGE (no Fanie your wife did not say that) but I enjoy it. This is an awesome vehicle to drive but I just need to get used to the size and the auto box as this is my first auto.

I got it with 8km on the clock so I am still driving like a granny but thus far I enjoy it so much.

Something I would really like to change is the audio system or the screen as I am used to the big touch screen of my Tiguan and I enjoy some of the more luxury things in life so is it possible or should I give up now?

I got mine in oyster silver which is a colour I did not often see and then today I had the PDC and reverse camera fitted. The mirror has a bit of a problem when reverse is activated, it seems as there are some interference or a loose connection which will be sorted out on Monday.

I really enjoyed my Tiguan but I am really really enjoying this vehicle and Im very glad I went with the ranger.

I also took the running boards, roll bar, cover at the back and nudge bar which will be fitted next week.

Congrats!

Which year model?

2017. It had something like 8km on the odometer so brand new. I am actually looking for excuses to drive now

Congrats and I hope you keep enjoying it! I love my second T6 just as much as I did the first one for the 3 years I had it.

Pro Tip: taxi's will think twice about trying to push in in front of you.

That and the fact that people are now moving out of the fast lane much quicker

Ranger top dop for June:

SOUTH AFRICA’S 10 BEST-SELLING BAKKIES OF JUNE 2017

The sales figures for the sixth month of 2017 are in … and the battle for the title of South Africa’s best-selling bakkie is still as close as two coats of paint.

In June 2017, aggregate new vehicle sales grew slightly to 45 369 units, an increase of 0,9% year-on-year, according to Naamsa. The light commercial segment, meanwhile, came in at 14 278 units, an improvement of 8,0%. And, as usual, we’ve taken a closer look at the sales figures to identify the 10 best-selling bakkies of June 2017.

So, exactly what happened in June? Well, the Ford Ranger placed ahead of the Toyota Hilux for the third consecutive month, beating the Japanese bakkie by 172 units.

The Isuzu KB, meanwhile, retained third place, while the Nissan NP300 almost doubled its sales figures month-on-month to climb from sixth to fourth. The Nissan NP200 held steady in fifth.

The Chevrolet Utility – which will disappear from the scene when the brand leaves the country at the end of 2017 – fell two places to sixth, while the Volkswagen Amarok stayed in seventh, the Toyota Land Cruiser Pick-up in eighth and the Nissan Navara in ninth. The Mahindra Bolero returned to the table to claim the final spot.

That means there’s no room for the Mahindra Scorpio Pik-Up (59), Mitsubishi Triton (40), Mazda BT-50 (33) or Fiat Fullback (10) in June.

See the top ten list below, and have a look at May’s figures here.

South Africa’s 10 best-selling bakkies of June 2017:

1. Ford Ranger – 3 333
2. Toyota Hilux – 3 161
3. Isuzu KB – 1 178
4. Nissan NP300 – 1 130
5. Nissan NP200 – 1 067
6. Chevrolet Utility – 919
7. Volkswagen Amarok – 220
8. Toyota Land Cruiser Pick-up – 180
9. Nissan Navara – 137
10. Mahindra Scorpio Bolero – 70

SA’s best-selling vehicle in the first half of 2017 is…

The first half of 2017 has come and gone. So, what was South Africa’s best-selling vehicle of the first six months of the year?

Well, the Ford Ranger tops the charts, with June’s haul of 3 333 units (out of the automaker’s 5 371-unit grand total for the month) boosting its half-year total to 17 014 units.

The Toyota Hilux is a mere 187 units behind on 16 827, while the Volkswagen Polo Vivo sits in third place with 14 464 units registered. The regular Volkswagen Polo is in fourth on 12 047, while the Toyota Corolla/Auris/Quest (the brand reports an overall figure rather than individual model sales) rounds out the top five with 9 610 units.

Interestingly, Ford says its locally built bakkie also leads export volumes in the light commercial sector, with 25 399 units shipped over the first six months of 2017.

“It is fantastic to end of the first half of 2017 with the Ford Ranger at the top of local sales, and entrenching its position as one of South Africa’s top exports,” said Neale Hill, director of marketing, sales and service for Ford Motor Company Sub-Saharan Africa Region.

“The investment Ford has made in the local assembly operations to deliver a world-class vehicle has clearly paid off, and the additional capacity afforded by the R125-million upgrade to the vehicle conveyor system at the Silverton assembly plant will help us meet this continued strong customer demand, both locally and internationally,” he added.

SA’s 5 best-selling vehicles in the first half of 2017:

1. Ford Ranger – 17 014
2. Toyota Hilux – 16 827
3. Volkswagen Polo Vivo – 14 464
4. Volkswagen Polo – 12 047
5. Toyota Auris/Corolla/Quest – 9 610

So a funny thing happened to me with my Ranger. I arrived at the airport yesterday afternoon from Sudan, got home and took a drive in the bakkie. This morning I needed to go and get dog food so off I go. Come back with the food which is at the front passenger footwell, seat pushed up against it to not fall over.

I stop at my house and grab the seat adjustment bar at the bottom, moving the seat back when my hand slipped off and hit the underside of the seat and this is where the funny part comes in. There was no cover on some piece of EXTREMELY sharp metal and it cut my middle finger two thirds through.

I grabbed my finger whilst blood is spraying out looking for the closest human to assist me as I knew I was in ****. Guy thats trenching for fibre came to assist me by getting toilet paper out of the centre console. His supervisor saw it and came runnig, helped me a bit and had a look, shouting to his colleagues to forget about the medi kit it needs to be put back on.

They loaded the frozen dog food into the freezer, locked my bakkie and even took me to the doctor. Shame the guy was actually willing to wait there for me to take me back home.

The doctor said theres no way I will have feeling in the top part of my middle finger ever again.

Oh well, **** happens. Going on holiday tomorrow so dont really care.

I went to a dealership and you could see they went into panic mode because of what happened (not the place I bought it at). I told them no one is to blame I just quickly want it fixed as Im scared it happens to someone else.

The service manager quickly gixed it for me and I was on my way. Its hard to describe which part it is but if you sit in the seat and put your hand under the seat you would feel a dull piece of metal which holds the seat material on the frame, my dull piece of metal was never attached over the sharp frame.

My finger hurts now.
