The Ford Ranger (T6) Thread

Hey guys,

I thought this thread would be a great place to introduce myself to the forum - I'm a sales executive at a Gauteng Ford dealership, and partaking in the Motoring forum on myBB is part of my own initiative to hunt for sales (therefore, my views and opinions do not necessarily reflect those of Ford SA or the dealership I work for)

If anyone is looking to buy a new Ford, or you know about a friend, colleague or family member who is interested in buying one, let me know - please help a fellow myBB member out! Competition is fierce nowadays, so one has to try different avenues to achieve success.

With regards to the post above, we had this package (called the Fx4 package) on the outgoing models, so I'm sure it is a strong possibility for the facelift models. The article is right in saying that Ford SA has not confirmed anything on the matter yet.

Then, the new (facelift) Ranger is here! We already have stock allocated to us so ask me any questions you might have!

Flame on for On the Road Charges and justifications.

I have seen Ford dealers charge as much as 5k for this which really sours a car deal, especially where they try to justify the unjustifiable. Price a car with all costs included, easy way to get one up on your competitors.

Is the new Mustang coming to ZA?

We have received our first batch of stock on the facelift Ranger!

I took a few quick pics for the sake of interest:

Another new mag design for the XLT I see // I never thought the tailgate RANGER decals could get any bigger!

Why are all the towhitch's missing from the towbars?

Biturbo only on the Wildtrak thus I presume the XLT will only have a single turbo.
How would the single turbo then compare to the 3.2l version, power wise?

Do you know when pricing will be available?
Also when will Ford update their website with the full specifications.

Yes, the XLT will have the single turbo 2.0

The 2.2 still produces 118kW
The 3.2 still produces 147kW
New 2.0 single turbo produces 132kW
New 2.0 biturbo produces 157kW

Pricing is already available, I will post it later this morning for interest's sake.
Ford's website will be updated soon, I have the new specs on an Excel sheet so if there are any questions in the mean time, let me know!

We just received the new stock late Wednesday afternoon, so the PDI's haven't been done yet.

I understand completely what you're saying. The problem isn't just limited to Ford dealers though.

We are still awaiting final confirmation from Ford SA, but at this stage the new Mustang is coming, yes.

I never knew they came with the towhitch removed. Why do they do that - reduce length on the car carrier?

Yes, it reduces the length on the carrier, but it is also to avoid it being stolen.

Looks great! I presume XLT & Wildtrak MY2019 models come with LED DRL's & LED headlights now?

No LED headlights unfortunately, still normal headlights, and HID headlights on the Wildtrak.
LED DRL's and LED spotlights only on the Wildtrak

Such a pity. First thing I did on my latest T6 was swap out all of the globes for Phillips Crystals which made a big difference and increased the intensity of the daytime running globe.

It's high time top spec bakkies received Xenons as standard now

It should be full OEM LED's for topline Bakkies in 2019.

When is the release date/official launch?

No confirmation on the official launch date yet, but many dealers have received stock already and a few sales have actually been made. The full range (except for the Raptor) is available right now, so if anyone is looking for one, send me a PM - we have some great retention deals on the new ones.

I attended the dealer training on the facelift Ranger & Everest yesterday.

Fortunately we also got to meet the new Raptor in person - and I was lucky enough to drive it too. The suspension on that beast is incredible. It is also longer, wider and higher than a standard Ranger.

The new 2.0 turbodiesels (both single turbo and bi-turbo) perform brilliantly with the 10 speed automatic gearbox. We did comparative test drives with the outgoing models, as well as with some *ahem* competitors, and let me tell you, the new Rangers are onto something here.

Visually, not much have changed, but under the skin - a lot. An upgraded suspension is standard across the range.

Personally, I feel the pick of the bunch is the XLT double cab with the 2.0 single turbo diesel engine (132kW). It is very responsive and comes well equipped too. The 2.0 biturbo engine, especially in the Raptor, has a nice growl to it at higher revs - it almost sounds like a 5-cylinder.

Here are some pics of the Raptor:

What's the holdup with Raptor locally? The same engine is coming in the Wildtrak before Raptor locally & overseas the Raptor was unveiled first! Lol

Ford SA did not give the reason why there is a hold up, I suspect part of the reason is to build anticipation and excitement! Price confirmation will now only be done in May. Initially they indicated a batch of 450 for 2019, now it sounds like it could be a little bit more - we are waiting with bated breath!

Ford SA starts shipping Ranger (including Raptor) from PE

Ford Motor Company of Southern Africa says it has started exporting its locally built Ranger and Ranger Raptor models from Port Elizabeth, in addition to shipping models from Durban.

The move is part of the Blue Oval brand’s effort to expand its vehicle export operations by adopting what it terms a “multi-port strategy”. Before now, of course, Ford’s outbound vehicles were shipped exclusively from Durban Harbour.

The first shipment of around 1 000 locally assembled Ranger units sent from PE was destined for various markets in Europe. The firm said it would now ship vehicles twice per month to various European ports.

The bakkies were transported from Ford’s Silverton assembly plant in Pretoria to Port Elizabeth using Transnet Freight Rail infrastructure.

“We are experiencing unprecedented demand for the Ford Ranger around the world, and have invested over R3-billion in the recent expansion of our production capacity in our South African operations to fulfil these orders,” said Ockert Berry, vice-president of operations for Ford Middle East and Africa.
