The Ford Ranger (T6) Thread

Hi Everyone,

What does it mean on a Ranger if it dont show the amount of gears on the side badge? its being sold a 2014 Ford Ranger 2.2TDCi XL P/U D/C but this badge got me worried. I haven't seen the thing in person yet but I have been told that it might be because its a 5 speed.

Any info would be appreciated.

Don't have a definitive answer for you. My 5x Base model 2.2's are 5 speed and have that exact fender insert which doesn't show the amount of forward gears.

My 2 XLT manuals have 6 speed written on that item, but it is chrome. My 1 XLT Auto has 6 AUTO written on the same chrome part. I can't remember what our old (and sold) XLS had and I can't remember what my mates 6 speed XL has written there. Only way is to request a pic of the gear knob...

It's the base model

It's the base model
If you're right, then it is a different model to the XL. Per the original pricelist, the entry level 5 speed with the low pressure 2.2 engine was designated "Base" and would not be allowed to be called an XL, new or used. Base also had manual window winders IIRC, as found on the workhorses in my fleet

My Sync 3 has been on software version 2 since I got the vehicle. Managed to update it to sync 3 Version 3.0 via USB this evening and it now has WAZE support and seems quicker through the screens.

Took almost an hour though and I had to leave the vehicle idling during the process.

My f@k Juliet. Worst video by her I have seen. She couldn't even make the swearwords work properly - they sounded forced. Much prefer her normal Cars.coza style...

So I just noticed the biggest improvement in the new version 3 of sync 3. In version 2, which my truck came with, you could only fast forward through a mp3 by holding down the skip button and it was painfully slow. Now, in version 3, you can slide the slider bar and get to the time in the song immediately. Extremely useful for the 2hr ClubLife mp3's I have on my USB Flash...

Hey guys,

I thought this thread would be a great place to introduce myself to the forum - I'm a sales executive at a Gauteng Ford dealership, and partaking in the Motoring forum on myBB is part of my own initiative to hunt for sales (therefore, my views and opinions do not necessarily reflect those of Ford SA or the dealership I work for)

If anyone is looking to buy a new Ford, or you know about a friend, colleague or family member who is interested in buying one, let me know - please help a fellow myBB member out! Competition is fierce nowadays, so one has to try different avenues to achieve success.

With regards to the post above, we had this package (called the Fx4 package) on the outgoing models, so I'm sure it is a strong possibility for the facelift models. The article is right in saying that Ford SA has not confirmed anything on the matter yet.

Then, the new (facelift) Ranger is here! We already have stock allocated to us so ask me any questions you might have!

Is that new one with 2L 10 speed auto drive train?

Correct - even though the 2.2L and 3.2L turbodiesels remain part of the range, you now get the 2.0 turbodiesel in double cab XLT trim, and the 2.0 biturbo in Wildtrak trim - both engines mated to the 10 speed auto.

It's gonna be awesome models!

My old man might be ready for a 4x4 wildtrak on a GFV 48 month deal if he can offload his 2014 for settlement value to a mate.

I know there are keen GFV deals on the current shape / run out stock, but do you know if they will offer GFV on the new facelift?

We are hoping that the GFV deals will be available on the facelift, but we haven’t received any confirmation from Ford SA - we are expecting to get clarity before the end of the week.

We have received our first batch of stock on the facelift Ranger!

I took a few quick pics for the sake of interest:

Base and XL models get a small Ranger sticker at the back

what are you guys expecting/anticipating with the sales split between the 3.2 5-pot vs the new Biturbo 4-pot 2L?

what are you guys expecting/anticipating with the sales split between the 3.2 5-pot vs the new Biturbo 4-pot 2L?

Since the biturbo will only be available in Wildtrak spec, we expect most of the Wildtrak sales to be in favour of the biturbo (a 3.2 Wildtrak will still be available but only in 4x2). The price difference between the 3.2 Wildtrak 4x2 and 2.0 Biturbo 4x2 is only R22,000.

A lot of customers prefer the 4x4 as well.

I will post more pics soon. This coming Monday I am attending the dealer training on the new models, so I will post my driving impressions afterwards.

Biturbo only on the Wildtrak thus I presume the XLT will only have a single turbo.
How would the single turbo then compare to the 3.2l version, power wise?

Do you know when pricing will be available?
Also when will Ford update their website with the full specifications.
