The new spec's prices are crazy. In 2014 a brand new Wildtrak manual was around R440 000 or that's what I got mine at...

Ford Motor Company of Southern Africa says it achieved a “record-breaking month” in August 2016, with the highest number of Ford Rangers exported to date.

Some 8 548 locally assembled Ranger units left South African shores in August, shipped off to markets in the rest of Africa, Europe and the Middle East.

Locally, the brand sold 2 237 units of the Ranger – 2 125 of which were through the dealer channel – making it SA’s second best-selling bakkie for the month, after the Toyota Hilux (find the ten best-sellers here).

Ford says it expects Ranger sales to “gain further momentum for the balance of the year” thanks to the recent addition to the range of new 2,2-litre TDCi models equipped with the six-speed automatic transmission.

Although there was enough space, our luggage was at the mercy of the weather and rainy weather was threatening to soak everything to the bone. We solved the issue by wrapping our valuables in water-resistant tent covers that seemed to keep everything dry. The potential for opportunistic criminals to swipe goods from the load bay was also a concern.
??
It's a flippin bakkie!

Very nice bakkie! Friend at the office bought the Supercab XLS 2.2 manual. Really does drive nicely!

I think I just noticed a little drool on my shirt :o Will be hard pressed not to get one (one day) when I finally move on from my current tjor.

I like the T6 Ranger but it was buying a D/C T6 auto I would buy a late low mileage 2015 3.2 XLT (Excel) over the new 2.2 XLS.

The only real concern is the difference in diesel consumption. But then again, you have 470nm compared to the 385 in the 2.2. Guess it all depends if you want to tow something heavy. I still like the reliability and resale on the Hilux though. Also, the interior is a bit better for me, especially with leather optioned.

I have no problems with my 2015 2.2 xls. Way better drive than the Hilux it replaced. Fuel consumption is better than my Corolla (town driving).

Aha

"Heading to Australia in the near future? You may want to squeeze your Ford Ranger into your hand luggage, because Tickford is back with some nifty upgrades for the big bakkie.

Yes, the tuner has returned Down Under thanks to Prodrive Racing. And it is offering all sorts of goodies for the 3,2-litre Ranger (one can easily spend the equivalent of R220 000, according to motoring.com.au).

The performance package adds a new air-filter, intercooler, pipe kits, 2,5-inch cat-back exhaust and a spot of ECU tuning, which together move the five-cylinder turbodiesel’s peak outputs to around 170 kW and 560 N.m (from the stock 147 kW and 470 N.m).

Tickford has not provided any performance figures, but claims the updates lend the Ranger a significantly improved throttle response. The company also offers a cheeky side-exit exhaust system with dual carbon tailpipes.

Furthermore, a suspension package can be specified, comprising Bilstein dampers, King springs and exclusive 20-inch wheels. Tempted?"

My father is looking for one of these for our van. Apparently only aftermarket radios with reverse cams will work, since only the wildtrack and the XLT comes with it optional and they are different to that of the XLS, so one radio cannot be used in the other models. Currently we have a screen in the rear view mirror but it is not that great in terms of quality because of the reflection.
So who does aftermarket radios for the new ranger?
