Not if you've agreed to the T&C. They absolve SANRAL of any faults or failures on the e-tag, and a misread or failed read will still result in a charge for you at the non-tagged rate.

Ah, but you can raise a dispute and their photos are not going to match your vehicle.

They then charge the vehicle, by the number plate. If the tag does not match the vehicle, the vehicle gets charged. If you put your friend's tag in your car, you car will be charged, by number plate.

I played around with the tag, the vehicle gets charged, and I could see the vehicle getting charged, because the vehicle I use is registered. The charges goes to "Unassigned transactions" and then it is full price.

I phoned Sanral, got told yes, will be charged with the expensive amount, 'cause my tag was not right.

And even if you make use of prepaid, and do not pay the initial 5c, but you do have R49-95 available as a balance, you get charged the full amount, 'cause the tag is not right, procedure not followed.

Oh, and that guy, in the VW, flipping birdies, he had an e-tag, so he is a fake, because when you log in, you can view the photos of the gantries you passed, that's how he got that photo is my guess, and I have tested it, the tag beeps in the cubbyhole.

Here's a photo of mine, I made the photo smaller, you get a nice large photo.

Something tells me they'll supply you with a profile to view your passes even if you are untagged. So much for disputing it.

My internet doesn't work for scam websites.
On that topic, how does one submit websites to DNSBLs and porn blacklists etc? :D

Most of my co-workers have decided to buy etags, some already have. These are the same people who hate the etoll system and promised never to buy them. I'm now wondering if I shouldn't buy an etag.

yes, as expected the sheep will bleat but then just do what the big bad sheepdog tells them to, go and join the flock and tell them that the lot of you are responsible for the collapse of the resistance

Watch SARS access this system to verify travel claims. ;)

Tel me, how will they know if I have one tag and use it on two cars?

Someone has to explain this it system to me, does the system see your tag and plate at the same time and compare the two?
Or do they have etrolls sitting checking these things?

And wasn't it said that if you paid with in a certain time you would also get the discount?

Let me tell you, and I don't blame them, people are scared.

Yes. Tag data is verified against the vehicle's plates. They have to match or you get nailed at rate as if you weren't registered.

How sure are you of that? ... If they verified plates to a tag, then there is no point of a tag in the first place. I think the plate pictures will only be used in the case of an Etag dispute.

I think the e-tag has two benefits for Sanral
It ensures registration
It reduces risk of duplicate or no plates

All you are doing is giving them your details/banking info and signing a form to say you are liable for any tolls... not like you even get a phone, car, house or ANYTHING but deductions from your hard earned money.

They following the exact same routes as Nigerian scammers, must be where Zuma got his training

Plates are cloned in 5 minutes.... most people are going to leave their tags in the car. *smash*... I see a nice clear highway for a Cash-heist getaway.

So if I remove my tag from the car and put it in my bag, and then get a lift from a friend - does he get penalised at the gantry 'cos my tag responded too?.. cos the tag doesnt match the car.

/me curious
