I was just pulled over on Witkoppen for a "random traffic stop". The very first question the pig asked me was do i have an e-tag. I said no and he said they were giving fines out for it now. I told him its fine, just write clearly on the ticket that the fine is for no e-tag. He just looked at me, walked around the car, got in his car and drove off. Fecking aashole. I took his nr plate and will be reporting it

Could also be the latest way to solicit bribes?

As others said - please report it and give as many details as you can about the incident. *******s.. the lot of them!!

Most of the roadblocks.. I mean bribe-blocks on Witkoppen are to harass motorists for bribes

i have a tag, use it for Bakwena Zambesi and Doornpoort plaza tollgates and up N1 North to Warmbaths direction.... physical toll gate - no tag means have to stand in queue to pay at the tollgate to drive thru, vs etag just drive through.
these gates now linked to the Gauteng freeway etag system...
those gates usually cost me and wife about R600pm so... if they follow the R450 limit, it could mean that we'll actually save money :D

But dealing with these buggers over the past few days, it seems they have a very f'd up system.
seems Etoll's biggest problem atm is not the people who refuse to pay... but the poor sods who are actually trying to pay :D
their help desk is with people (off the street?) who dunno wtf is going on, the website is crap
sounds like they have payments not going through, wrong payment allocations, etc etc....
they have to sort that sh-t out first, before worrying about the roof-drivers

Just a word of Caution.
The influx of state representatives landing at Waterkloof for the Memorial is going to make the already extremely slow alternative road a nightmare for the next few days.

At least it's state representatives this time and not representative of a state turning into a banana republic.

Pretty sure that the R450 only relates to the new Gantry style etolls. The existing gates, that you had the Etag for already, will still charge you over and above the R450 so you are looking at paying R1050 per month.

Correct me if I am wrong though.

True. It is just going to make going home a nightmare. Obama is going to land there... Sigh.

:) yeah i dont really expect anybody to be saving anything, there is likely to be a clause to fix the cap only to the actual Gauteng etoll freeway portion ... this is still "Transvaal" after all... and that old law of "K*k & betaal" is still very much alive :D

If a Bakwena tag holder travels through the Bakwena toll a lot are these tolls going to be calculated in the R450 cap or is only our Open Road Tolling counted towards the cap?

Answer:
Bakwena is responsible for their own tariffs and discounts. e-toll TCH only processes their transactions. Therefore the R450 cap, tag discount, time of day discount and frequent user discount (all of which are published in the Gazette) will only apply to Gauteng Open Road Tolling & not Bakwena. Customers would still need to apply at Bakwena in person for any discounts available at Bakwena.

Damn, what a surprise, SCAMRAL.

you guys obviously realise, that with every new e-toll phase, as decsribed in DJ's 2nd video, the cap will go up..... R450..... R900.... R1350..... and that's without yearly increases....

we have to stop this sh|t

Would I be able to claim a new clutch from SANRAL. As they advised, I'm using alternative roads. My poor clutch.
:D

no, you will be able to buy an automatic, when your Sanral refund check for taking away the roads that you previously helped to build arrives ;-)

I wish I could speed it up. I can't afford it.
Yes I can give up my gym contract but I do not support corruption. So it will not help.

I need to exercise or I might blow up a gantry :o happy hormones are important :D

Seriously though. These roads are messed up. What pisses me off is that I paid for those roads they claim to own now. all the freaking years of paying levy.

I'm sure this has been covered. If I drive the toll roads and I give my tax consultant the proof, would that mean I can claim back some of the tax?

 each morning I sit in PTA east for 30 minutes thanx to them I grow more determined not to buy a tag. they just piss me off. bloody marvelous...

nope again..... they've fiddled it, that you are paying tax on top of the road costs as well - I would say, that's supreme rimming in the rear....
