I hope you told them at the top of your voice that you don't give your bank account details to highway robbers and fraudsters?

I tell them everytime that i will not sign my life away with sanral. om the phone to them again, racking up their phonebill and wasting their time. lucky i can do other things while on the phone

Long Story Made Shorter

Managed to pay my fees within the 7 days, after a long fight. Went back again to the e-toll outlet where again they refused to take my money, because according to them the systems were down. I was basically ignored while they started to help other e-toll. After a while i drove home and while almost home I got a call from the call centre telling me all systems are up and running and I should be able to pay. So I went back and again they started of by telling me the systems are down I can't pay. Now my blood pressure really starts to rise as I was just told by the call centre I can pay (have the reference number from them) So spoke to the manager and he again tells me, the systems are down. So again I told him, you call centre confirmed they are not down. Then I told him this is no a VPC payment, then the ball started to drop with them. Only the VPC payments are down not the 7 day window period payments.

I never ever even mentioned VPC in the past I just asked to check my outstanding balance so I can pay. Those low IQ operators (to copy Vusi Mona) just assumed I wanted to pay a VPC. They wasted my whole day for a payment of R94.72

Sanral loves scared people like you

No I am not scared, I am not going to get registered nor am I going to get an e-tag, I just pay within the 7 days. I have my own reason for that. I am still fighting the system, I am very good a slowing the already slow queue at the outlets and I keep their call centre quite busy. The cost of the number of phone calls they already made to my cell phone (I never give them my land line number) cancels all my payments out if it not exceeds it.

I believe we can only stop this, by refusing to pay - let them take us all to court and let the judges decide if we are all criminals

Gauteng residents have taken to Facebook to vent their rage at e-tolls today.

"Your status message for today is; My name is (insert name here) and I will not pay for e-Tolls#TagFree" The Opposition to Urban Tolling Alliance (Outa) announced on Facebook.

According to ITWeb the Facebook protest has spilt over to Twitter, where #TagFree has been trending since 7:40am.

"My name is David and I will not help you cover up your corruption and misappropriation of my taxes TagFree" one tweet read.

Another, referencing spokesperson Vusi Mona's advice to a radio caller worried about scammers exploiting Sanral's SMS notification system, read "I did what Vusi Mona said - i raised my IQ and found that etolls is an unjust system, I will not pay for etolls!!! Tagfree".

Democratic Alliance Gauteng premier candidate Mmusi Maimane has offered to act as a conduit for complaints about the e-tolling system, saying motorists could send their complaints about the collection of etolls to [email protected] or post a picture of the sms or bill they had received on Twitter @DA_News, using the hashtag #No2etolls.

A bit of other news. You can't buy the Bakwena (road to Limpopo) tags anymore. For those that don't know this, it is a tag you could buy to go through the tollgates quickly instead of stopping and paying with cash.

They tell you to but an etag. I know of a few people that are livid about this.

SANRAL are doing everything in their power to force adoption of e-tags.
I'd rather be inconvenienced and pay with cash.

Just heard the following on the news 702 haven't seen any news articles confirming

#eTolls Resignation of COO, Ben Theron

Confirmed - they're jumping ship...

http://www.timeslive.co.za/local/20...ction-company-chief-operating-officer-resigns

"ETC has made us aware of Mr Ben Theron's resignation," spokesman Vusi Mona said in an e-mail.

"Sanral (SA National Roads Agency Limited) is contracted to the company ETC and not to its employees. Please contact ETC for further details."

Electronic Tolling Collection (ETC) Pty Ltd spokeswoman Ann Mardon said the company would issue a statement later.

Theron's resignation followed the resignation of its former CEO Salahdin Yacoubi on November 1 last year.

On September 25, President Jacob Zuma signed into law the Transport Laws and Related Matters Amendment Bill, giving the go-ahead for e-tolling in Gauteng. The e-toll system started operating across Gauteng on December 3.

E-TOLL SYSTEM ON BRINK OF COLLAPSE?

Following the announcement of Mr Ben Theron’s resignation, the Chief Operations Officer of the Electronic Tolling Company, OUTA is not at all surprised at this latest turn of events, the second of two senior executive resignations within a few months at this critical time in the “life of e-tolls in South Africa”.

“Judging by the steady stream of complaints expressed by frustrated motorists, not only to OUTA’s website but to many other social media platforms, the picture of a system on the brink of collapse or most certainly in a chaotic situation has emerged and it appears to be getting worse by the day” says OUTA spokesperson, John Clarke.

“The complexity of the system was always going to be a challenge to even the most sophisticated and experienced managers and staff, because Intelligent Transportation Systems require more than mere cognitive intelligence in understanding high tech computer and financial systems, but its success depends on the majority of users having an attitude of cooperation and enthusiasm for it to work effectively, and overcome problems”.

The e-toll decision has gone from bad to worse ever since it was announced and our research shows that in this climate of public rejection, low compliance and shocking maladministration, the system will not achieve its revenue targets and their reactions are simply alienating society from its Government.

We urgently call on the Minister of Transport to intervene, suspend the system and call on interested stakeholders to seek the more sensible and efficient solutions to this fiasco, failing which a credit rating downgrade is sure to be on the cards for SANRAL and this situation will do South Africa no favours.
