Yep, I received my first e-toll toiletpaper yesterday in four separate envelopes.

For about 18 transactions there were only photos for 1 of them (a set of 3 from various angles). If you know the number plate you are looking for you can identify it on the photos, but if you don't know what you were looking for it could match hundreds of plates.

Now the tricky part is that if I query the missing photos I acknowledge receipt of the documents.

At the same time I renewed my drivers license about two weeks ago and changed my postal address. So I could just play dumb and wait for them to send the invoices to my new postal address.

I'm also tempted to go in and pay for only 1 of the 18 transactions (the one with the photos) and then tell them to send me the other photos if they want further payment.

If you are not planning on paying then ignore.

If you are, I'd go with your last suggestion. Pay for that for which there is proof. Ask for the evidence on the other gantries.

It's not really my bill. It's for my parents. I helped them to buy a car, but the vehicle is on my name as they are living of pension etc. I'll let them decide what they want to do. If it were mine I would wait until the first court case.

Yeah, but I don't care much for the SANRAL act until a court has ruled on the entirety of it.

Besides, the NPA just said if it's the owner isn't the driver, the driver and the owner will have to be prosecuted at the same time. They will have to prove beyond reasonable doubt who the driver is. So I'll wait for them to prosecute both of us at the same time. I'd also like to see them identify the driver on the pictures. It's impossible to see through the window on the one set of pictures that they sent with the invoices.

My car is registered in my wife's name. But I have this habit of leaning forward and giving the camera the finger... Going to have to stop doing that.

Not sure what would happen with the SANRAL technology, but you'd likely wake up hospital wearing the latest technology in various forms of braces, monitors and corrective implants after getting rear-ended by someone.
As a plus, there would be spectacular footage - likely low res black & white - of the incident included in your next invoice.

Thanks for the practical advice. :D I was just thinking more along the lines of people driving slow (blocking say the left 3 lanes), while 3 cars go ahead to the next gantry and just sit there waiting for the rest of the procession.

Wonder if they'll be tolled every few seconds. 'Cause as seen with the Obama incident, the eToll software doesn't care if the same plate drives under a gantry in quick succession.
 
If you drive in a protest, you are exempt from toll fees. So we should just be in permanent-protest mode.
 
Regarding how the cameras work for slow moving traffic. I was told by someone that went to go pay their bill at the Scamral offices that they met a gentleman there, that got billed 15 times for the same gate over a 15minute period because he was stuck in traffic.

He had to go to police station to get affidavit sorted to proof that he only went through once.

And there's rumours that they want to eToll that bastion of freeflowing traffic that is the M1. Good luck with that.

Any decent software would have picked that up and deleted the excess - cr@p programming !
