Okay, I have to say it and I'm pretty sure I'll be flamed for this but the two movies that really stayed with me last year were Mad Max and The Martian... Not The Revenant.
Sure, the Bear, sure the cinematography, but it lacked something for me. I struggled to empathise with anyone, and his son and the Indian girl felt contrived... Also, I guess I'm the only one who was bothered that 'ol Hugh was walking on a compound fracture mid way through the movie. The real Hugh trekked for six weeks and even that timeframe would be tight.
Until TFA I hadn't been to a cinema since 2008, if it had been for The Revenant, I'd have been pissed.
Movies aside, I'll also throw my hat into the WTF, no Fargo or Narcos ring.
