Agree with that....I didn't watch any of the other nominated performances though so have to be kind.

I will say it must be a thin year if Christian Slater is getting awarded for playing Christian Slater.
 
Okay, I have to say it and I'm pretty sure I'll be flamed for this but the two movies that really stayed with me last year were Mad Max and The Martian... Not The Revenant.
Sure, the Bear, sure the cinematography, but it lacked something for me. I struggled to empathise with anyone, and his son and the Indian girl felt contrived... Also, I guess I'm the only one who was bothered that 'ol Hugh was walking on a compound fracture mid way through the movie. The real Hugh trekked for six weeks and even that timeframe would be tight.
Until TFA I hadn't been to a cinema since 2008, if it had been for The Revenant, I'd have been pissed.

Movies aside, I'll also throw my hat into the WTF, no Fargo or Narcos ring.

That he is. Only saw now he's in Bridge of Spies. I'm even more excited to watch it now.

And he's going to be in the next Christopher Nolan film - Dunkirk.

Yip. It started off very well and just sort of lost its way. Became annoyingly generic.

Generic? I can't disagree more, I felt like it gained focus as the season went on. It started out as an interesting hacker thriller but ended as a portrayal of psychological illness, and it was held together by the performance of Rami Malek. Now Narcos was also excellent but in its own way it was more generic than Mr Robot.

Hmm, I dunno. Just felt like it lost momentum and drudged around too much in something that already became established, i.e. Elliot's mental problems. The E Corp storyline ended up feeling somewhat convoluted.

Towards the end it got better but I found the middle episodes very tedious.Rami was however excellent throughout.

I think the highlight of the series for me was the introduction of DB Wong's Whiterose. Although only a brief appearance, that scene made me sit up and actually take an interest. They could have expanded on the character and made it more interesting. The mystery of Whiterose is on the other hand quite interesting.

Well, it's kind of been set up that he'll be more involved going forward.

He does add an interesting element to the story.

Yeah I mean different tastes and all. If Narcos had won, or Fargo, I wouldn't have argued with those choices either. I feel personally the Knick is my choice of best tv show.
