Chris Kelly(Daddy MAC) From the duo Kriss Kross has died at the age of 34. He was found unconscious at his home this morning and prenounced dead later on at Atlanta medical centre. Story still developing(Drug rumors ofcoz) RIP

Anyone listen to Chance The Rapper?

He just released his 2nd mixtape "Acid Rap" about a month ago. The kid(20) is pretty good, got a lot of people buzzing.

First time I heard his music, reminded me a lot of Childish Gambino(who's also featured) and I'm not really a CG fan but found myself playing this album non-stop.
I think there were even times I thought I was listening to Lil Wayne :what: (voice bit high pitched) but he does a much better job with his lyrics and the music is really well produced. Type of artist you'd love to see play live with a band.

Ok, I've said a lot. This is supposed to be a mixtape but could've easily been an official release. If can, grab it and let me know what you think. Give it a couple of listens, might take some getting used to.

BTW would like to know what everyone's listening to that's not already out there, especially on the indie side. Nothing feels as good as finding hidden gems :)

Just listened to J Cole - Born Sinner and Wale - The Gifted, both really really good albums. Also listened to Yeezus and couldn't finish it, stopped about 1/3 of the way in. Probably didnt get it....or it is just crap..
 
I suspect Kanye wanted to be different from the current crop of MCs but Yeezus is so different that he lost his audience.

Yeezus wasn't utterly terrible, I think he just took a lot of people by surprise and the fact that it was so short. One thing people don't get about Kanye is that he believes in encapsulating everything to its smallest detail. This was an art piece, though I've heard better(he's not the first HipHop artist to mix tap into the industrial sound) but I get where he was going with it.

JCole was good but it's still JCole. Though it has better production and doesn't feel as forced as his previous album, I still have this problem with him...dude is flat and can get tired very quickly, lyrical content aside. We have another Talib Kweli on our hands. I just can't have him on repeat for too long.

I thought Mac Miller's album was just as good but somehow it went on unnoticed.
That's the one I'm playing the most out of those 3.

Still need to get Wale.
 
Haven't listened to Kanye's new album but read about it and all the reviews are stellar
 
Yeezus is actually good, it's rap version of 808 or 808 without the auto tune. Blood On The Leaves and Hold My Liquor stands out for me.

Are there even any relevant white rappers besides Eminem? Who are you avoiding, lol? And let me avoid sexism but I secretly cosign. Seriously Macklemore's CD is fantastic though..give it a chance.
 
our daughter is on Facetime from Las Vegas and their hotel had a pool party and the DJ was Jazzy Jeff from DJ Jazzy Jeff and the Fresh Prince fame and tomorrow's party at the MGM hotel is Calvin Harris.

Macklemore's been around for a minute and his old stuff isn't too bad either. Check out a track "The Town", which had me keeping tabs on him since. His EP before his latest release(also with Ryan Lewis) was actually good. He gets my props because he got where he is independently. Not easy with so many rap acts out there. The US hip hop market is on another level, too many talented artists.
You can actually make a living without signing with a major record label.

Action Bronson is another white rapper you can check out. He's like a ginger version of Rick Ross and sounds like Ghostface Killah of Wu-Tang.

Machine Gun Kelly also has a lot of buzz going though I'm not a fan of the whole South Side trap music.

I also enjoyed Yelawolf's Radioactive album. He's signed to Shady Records, from the South and makes a lot of trap but no so much on Radioactive.

And then there's Aesop Rock, a vet in the underground. Very popular in the tagging and skateboarding scene. Never really bothered with his old stuff, it was too deep and difficult to listen to. Skelethon(his latest release) was a lot better on the ear, had a couple of the tracks on repeat.

Mr J.Medeiros is a Portuguese Christian(but only by a few notable classifications) rapper based in the US. He raps more about social issues so anyone can listen to him.

So there are a lot of good white rappers out there, you just have to look in the right places. The stuff you see on TV(or hear on the radio) isn't all that's out there.

Went back and re-listened to Yeezus and it wasn't the same attack on the senses it was the first time. Its a good album, its not great and definitely not his best IMHO.

Fav song on Born Sinner is Let Nas Down though, now THATS a hip hop track that will be legendary. Nas did a remix where he responds, thought it was pretty cool
