The Hobbit : 2D or 3D

Watched it in 2D at Galleria (Durban). Used a Click's club card and paid R29 for the ticket. ;) There were 6 people in the cinema.

Awesome view and I could really feel the surround sound effects (if thats what you call it). All in all, a good movie even though I'm not the biggest LOTR fan.

Go see it in HFR 3D. This is now my preferred choice of 3D. Really something else and.... No more frame blur. Battles was great for a change.

Absolutely loved the movie last night. Was thoroughly engaged and not in the least bit bored. I saw the normal 2D version first, because I wanted to appreciate it for the story first. I will go and see the HFR 3D version next. If you are an avid fan of the book or the previous movies then everything about this movie sucks you in and holds you until the last moment and then leaves you gasping for more. It's a rollicking fun ride. Bring on the next one!

It was pretty good movie for an "opening move".

The HFR is an absolute blast. First 30minutes of the movie I still in awe. Must see!

Yep it was great fun! Not often we watch in a cinema but this was totally worth it!

Well except for the effing d00s with the box of Astros sitting next to me. Idiot scratches around with the box. Takes out one Astro. Eats Astro. Five minutes later repeats process. Repeat every 5 minutes for the rest of the movie :wtf:

I was almost tempted to take the box and shove it down his throat!

But other than that the movie was awesome! Looking forward to Parts 2 and 3!

I thoroughly enjoyed the movie, it was 99% over when I first wondered what the time was. Though the movie wasn't as full as I would have expected, middle seats were all fully book, nowhere close to the sides of the cinema, and the front 4 rows were empty.

Watched it Monday 5pm (public holiday ftw) at Tygervally in 3d.

I watched this yesterday in HFR 3D. I am not really a fan of 3D but it was truly amazing. No blur and excellent picture quality. The movie itself was enjoyable as well.

The 48fps does feel a bit weird at the start (all the movements seems sped up) but I got used to it quickly.

I'll watch it 2D thanks, I hate 3D probably just my experience but I always find myself taking off the glasses when there's no 3D and then putting them back on when there is.

I watched the last Pirates of the Caribbean in 3D and it was disastrous imo.

The movie was way to dark and then you put on sunglasses for half-assed 3D..? F$%# that

It would seem (to me) that projectors rely on brightness to get clarity so putting on shades in the theatre to half the brightness seems very counter intuitive.

And then they charge double for a ticket when imo the technology isn't quite ready yet.

I found that too at time, I think it depends on the movie and which cinema you at.

3D for me at Cape Gate was terrible, and it was darker than it should be, but when I watched the Hobbit at Tygervalley in 3D, it was actually perfect, I felt no need to remove the 3D glasses at all.

Tickets booked :) Watching it tonight at Montecasino. They only have it in HFR and 2D? Because there was only 2 formats to choose from
