The Hobbit Ticket Price

My daughter has some card or other that allows her to get discount or something on movies and she on the weekend told me that to see a movie it is R70 odd and you still have to buy 3D glasses. I told her we used to go to the 3ARTS Theatre in Wittebome here in Cape Town and paid R1.50 to watch movies.

Well I'm planning to watch it this Sunday morning with my daughter and seriously thinking of going to Nu Metro because they not only offer me inserts for my prescription glasses, are a little bit cheaper but my local Ster K sucks donkey balls with their quality. Heck I'm going to be spending over R250 after we factor in all our expenses, might as well add in another R70 for petrol and make it worth our while.

Inserts for your glasses? To make it 3d?

How does that work? and do all Nu Metro's offer this or only some?

well i want to watch it at SK because

" with special attention on Ster-Kinekor
Gateway cinema complex in Durban – the only cinema in Africa
that offers Dolby Atmos sound and 48 frames per second (or High
Frame Rate – HFR) in 3D with a full 4k resolution digital cinema
screen."

This! I think it's going to be interesting though I hear it makes some people nauseas.

Hi Guys.

I just tried booking 2 tickets for The Hobbit movie at Gateway Ster Kinekor. It was a 3D but the glasses are charged at an additional cost over the ticket price.

I was shocket to see that the ticket price is R70 per ticket. I mean seriously. R140 for R tickets excluding 3d glasses. Thats very steep

Gateway has the HFR3D. Worth it I say.

It's not just the Hobbit. Was charged R150 (incl glasses) for 2 tickets Bedford Centre...holiday prices

Ster-Kinekor has higher quality theatres than NuMetro

Overall, I agree. But you can't beat NuMetro's El Grande and Pantheon cinemas :) (except maybe IMAX)

Wow.... I used to HATE 3D movies, but after seeing this at Gateway I have changed my mind! HFR 3D 4K Digital Projector with Dolby ATMOS made all the difference for me! What an awesome experience!
