cut and join in a new piece with couplings, R100 fix which will take about 15 minutes

It's right next to the ground and going under concrete to the pool enclosure.what you proposed would be the correct fix. Just seems impossible from the pics I got sent.
The tape may be a good stop gap measure.

Yup, I should have said 'not possible' at this point! Anyway, that Alcon tape was bought at 139 from Builders. Boss told me there was also a sellotape version for 70.00 not that she bought it. She has put it around the pipe , will wait for a day before checking.

PS. Love my home assistant config. Just had to toggle this on, to ensure pool pump won't run at all on its scheduled timings

I can gaurentee the tape wont work for long. I would rather cut a piece of pipe long ways then, sand up the existing pipe, apply a **** ton of pvc glue and scab on a patch with some big hose clamps to hold it in place while it dries

That self amalgamating silicone tape is very durable if it's correctly applied, though it does depend on what pressures are involved but I’d wager they wont be too high.
 
I just needed the problem to be solved (hopefully) while I am not there. Will see and report back on findings in a few weeks (or not!!)

fair its probably only like 20 psi, maybe i am wrong. We all know how a temporary fix becomes a permanent fix / problem for later very easily though.
 
Shower pipe broke and after visiting builders, Leroy and two local places it seems I have a non standard pipe.
IDK what this is in the wall but the pipe screws into the small thread.

Does anybody know what it's called and where I can get it in Gauteng?

It doesn't look to weird, is it some strange thread pitch/size?
You maybe just need a female to female pipe converter to fit over the outside threads depending on what you need to fit there

Does that small thread unscrew if you pop a Allen socket in there..? Might give you a 22mm female thread..

looks like some weird reducer that converts to male threads, not 100% but i would take a guess that the part spins out and you would have a regular female thread fitting.
 
The only plumbing fitting I know of with an Allen socket is the tap extension fitting (see picture).

From your photo it looks more like a male to male adapter/reducer. I will remove it and fit a shower pipe with the male thread.
