The huge debt problem caused by e-tolls

They're still trying to get me to pay. Sounds like they'll be sending me a letter soon which I'll just forward to OUTA quoting my member number and get on with my life.

10c per liter? That is what we said at the start. Since then there have been numerous increases and additional levies. We already paid for this thing. The principle has now become why we should even entertain the thought of paying for it any more.

the government cant back out of etolls, too much invested into it, and its success.

and too many contracts and too many fingers in pies for it to be simply scrapped.

So can they stop sending me spam mail now?

Besides making people pay - this is a really nice surveillance tool... If the data was sold, people wouldn't even need to pay?

Well, then the debt will continue growing and Gauteng ANC will suffer more losses...

I haven't received an eToll invoice/statement since I moved out of living with my now ex-wife. One day I will go and change my address at the traffic department, thinking that they will do it when I renew my drivers or vehicle licence because it is on the damn form seems to be the very definition of sanity.

I'm gonna lmao when people realise what a Guateng ring fenced petrol price increase would be. They love quoting what the national levy would be.. but thats a red herring.

This would be so hilarious if it wasn't so tragic. The outcome was so inevitable. Decision-makers lacked foresight and still continue on the same damn trajectory.

What would it be? I'm sure it would have already paid off the GFIP (everything minus etoll infrastructure) upgrades in the 6 years that have passed.

If the fuel levy of 2014 had been used, it would have been paid off that year and still have had another R20 billion for other roads left over.

That is basically the song of their people..

Remember how they managed to slip the arms deal & Nkandla past us, firepools nogal, but when they let the Guptas rule the people started wising up to their duplicitous nature.
We now know they up to no good & can't be trusted, but despite the cANCer's best efforts this is still a democracy and they will have to bow to the will of the people.
And the people said NO to e-tolls so take your corrupt little scheme and stick it where the sun don't shine we will never pay for it.

what worries me is governments who railroad things through like this,
tend to then become quite authoritarian in future.

so when will we get a president like Chavez or Gadaffi?

Our previous 3 presidents Ajay, Atul & Tony was kind of authoritarian...

The current one is just a little dumpling, trying to please everyone like a tannie going around offering cookies.

What I find funny is that it's even on the change of ownership forms, which I did fill in when I took my forms to the traffic department.

And the traffic department requires proof of address such as a utility bill but does absolutely sweet **** all with it.
