The Hunters thread

Ever considered buying a .270 or .300 WINMAG??:)

My brother has a .270 and that thing kicks like a meul, dnt know why. But what can i do with a .270 that i cant do with my 30-06??:D :D Me and my dad load our own bullets.... Never considered a .300 WINMAG, normally we dnt go bigger than kudu's and eland so dnt need it, both got silencers so its alot better on the ears..... :D :D

Why what you got?

ok..

I'm hunting with a hoyt bow but normally hear my friends complaining about the 30-06 being to slow...?
I considered buying a rifle but with the new laws it's almost impossible...:)

It all depends what you want to shoot.... I know with my 30kwes6 i can easily do 300m, so its not too slow for me.... :D

My friend had a Mathews Outback but sold it cause with his job he never had time to go and hunt with it... It was real shame, quite a lekker bow. Have you found a place to go hunt already?

i've got lots of friends with farm and lots of game but they are not bowhunting-friendly...
I stalk kudu in Eastern Cape last year and i've got a question..
Are there 2 kinds of kudu???

Because the kudu i shot looks alot dif than a kudu i shot in Kimberley

I've got a hunt lined up for end of April. (Springbok and ribbok) Hunting with a 7.62mm rifle (.308)(F-class target rifle). Still have to get use to the new scope before the hunt :D.

What scope are you using?:)

Tasco world class pro (8-32x 50mm lens, 1" tube), great scope, but i think it was more designd for the benchrest ppl. (not enuf total elevation for 900m, re-zeroed the scope on 200m now, will see what it does :D )

Previously had a Nikon Stirling sniper 16x fixed (30mm tube. 42mm lens). Excelent scope, about R1800 at kloppers in bloem.(when i was last there) Great for up to 700m. Elevation settings on 800/900m is not true anymore. good sope to start with, or just plain for hunting.

My next scope will definaly be a Leupold VX-III 8.5-25x LR 50mm. Their about $850 overseas. Great scope, lasts a live time. (Cabela's)

Leupold VX-III 8.5-25x LR 50mm now theres a scope....
I believe in buying the best once rather than buying alot of crap....
Leupold has some of the best scopes i've used, i believe your scope has a huge effect on your hunting ability....:)
Where are you hunting this winter?;)

i also believe in buying the right tools for the job, but don't quite have that amout of cash laying around yet. But will definatly need to get it.

We're going hunting near Bloem, a place called jagersfontein. First time i'm going there so should be interesting. Normally hunt on a farm near Hanover. Will probibly still go there later this year.

I prefer the "voor-sit" method of hunting. My rifle is just to heavy to walk and stalk. :D

Yep...thats my problem too.... MONEY!!!!!!
Ever tried hunting kudu with the "voorsit" tech????

Yes.

1 & the same.

The difference is in the Horns. On 1 the horns would be wide appart. On the other the Horns are closer together.

Hunters refer to them as being two different Kudu's
