Hi Guys.

Coming close to that time of year now.

This thread is for the Hunters and their experience.
Maybe also post Farms you liked, the prices and location.
Bow/Rifle

After a trip, Maybe a little story of your trip.

I see this turning out into a nasty thread. You sure its a sport Pitbull ?:D

Hope it works. Seems a good idea.

Lots of us out there.

Is it a sport?

For me it is. Hunting ethically is a most rewarding experience. You are out in the veld, the longer the better.

Kudu biltong has always been a delicatessen in SA. If you hunted the Kudu yourself so much the better.:D

Me and my dad normally shoot for export in the Karoo, between Hopetown and Prieska. We go down on a thursday and then leave the sunday. Shoot about 8 springbucks for ourselves and then between 6 guys normally end up shooting +- 400 for the weekend for export.

Never had the oppertunity to shoot "Sprinbok" *Tick it on my list to do.

This year I'll be trying Bow Hunting :p
A few farms I'm busy chatting with and will update soonest.

Last year had the oppertunity to hunt in Ellisras and got an Eland and two "Pen koppie" (Rooibokke). Rifle = 270

To each his own.

I grew up in the Karoo. Use to shoot springbuck as a pastime. During a extremely severe drought between 4 of us we shot 105 springbuck. They competed for graze with our livestock. Those days we didn't even blink. A sheep sold for ~R6.00. Venison had absolute no value. It was seen as a pest. Any case this was and will never be hunting. It is culling.

Now venison has value and a lot of farmers turned to it. Hunting is a major industry in this country. The operative word is hunting. IMO it is a honest walk and stalk method. I have hunted springbuck in the Karoo with the "voorsit" method. I have hunted in South West Gemsbok from a bakkie at 250m. I have hunted Kudu in the Eastern Cape with the "Chase" method. I prefer the Bosveld walk and stalk.

Enjoy which ever method you prefer. Keep it ethical!

To each his own. Enjoy.
:D
