I concur. I think your username and password is linked to your username and password. Usually iBurst links the username/password to the username/password.

(wanted)Iburst desktop modem

Hi guys im looking for a iburst modem in the pta area.

OK, so I got a second hand modem today (thanks D3x - will pay your buddy soon)

Plugged it in, lights come on, get blue and green for power and signal respectively. Plugged it into my PC via network cable, set PC's IP address and telnet'ed into it. Switched to debug mode 2 and got some stuff back, so I'm assuming everything works as it should. Tried opening the HTTP page some guy on the forum mentioned at 192.168.250.10, but it doesn't load (seems as if there's nothing on port 80...).

Should I pay the guy? Is that enough? He shipped it to me without too much hesitation and without knowning me, and told me I can test the modem first before paying. Or should I apply for iBurst and wait and see when I get home and plug my router in?

Last question - what's easier to stop: paying by credit card or paying by debit order? I asked the guy and the shop and they won't approve me if I say I'll pay the bill by Internet banking every month - i.e., they require some automatic payment.

I ended up signing an application form with credit card details, but made a nice big note with it that I want to pay it myself. Will see what they do...

You can test using Prepaid. PM me the UTID.

Will do. Currently just waiting for my application to go through - emailed the necessary forms this afternoon. The lady said I could phone back after 4 if I don't hear anything.

Bit disappointing to hear I can't pay manually every month, but hopefully I just won't have any billing problems.

I think ill be selling mine too soon, getting tired of these weak speed during the course of the day. My latency is so bad.. Cant do anything, but shout at the TV while playing Ps3..

OK, already off to a rocky start. Sent in my application at 11:00 this morning. Unfortunately I made the mistake of sending it in via e-mail. Phoned the call center and confirmed they got the mail. The lady requested that I send in a credit card statement and a proof of residence, and sent those in at about 14:00. Confirmed that she got it.

Then at 16:15, when I haven't heard anything back yet, I phoned again. Told that the lady was on lunch (At 16:00?). She'll phone me back. Phoned just before 5 again - and was told she was out already. The other gentleman helped me by checking and replying that my application was at the 'credit department' for approval. Obviously nothing will happen with that today - and probably not this weekend.

So why can a store open it instantly, but the sales guys at the call center sends it to another department where it is probably sitting on a fax machine / email inbox, forgotten? Now I can't even go to a store tomorrow, since I've already applied. :( That means no iBurst for me this weekend, and my Vodacom 3G bundle just run out.

Please PM me the details of who you spoke to and I'll have it sorted out first thing Monday. Credit vettingis a mandatory requirement.

I know how you feel. Lucky i applied on Thursday and resolved the issues on Friday. I also fought with them a bit. I mean they are competing with Telscum, so they should be offering simpler, better, faster customer service.

Managed to get my details today. Will test as soon as I'm home. I heard that iBurst is moving offices, so can kind understand why it took longer.

Anybody opening a contract soon - do it at a store if you live in Pta or Centurion! Stefan at the Menlyn offices are quite nice and competent, tested the modem I received in the mail on their system while I was waiting for my account.

D3x - say thanks to your buddy again. His shipping was excellent - received it early on Friday morning and everything worked as he promised (even though it looked like the modem was involved in a shark attack - but still, R500 is cheap!) Paid him on Saturday.

i have 2 desktop iburst modems lying in my cupboard...one was mine and one was my dad's...we both have ADSL now...so if someone wants to purchase them..let me know...they are the first model of the upright standing modem. I also have the iburst "aerial" - just the tiny clip at the end is broken, have to repair that, then can sell that as well.
