On my way to work today I saw some posters with a phrase "Afrikaners stem nie", there were more text but I didn't read it properly as I was travelling. Now I think that's idiotic, same as those people who boycott from voting.

It's not idiotic, from their perspective. I've known lots of afrikaner people and they are good folk. They only believe the country is theirs because of they are the founders and builders. And therefore, participating in a democratic election is like treasonanous to what they believe.

They are not idiots, voting for someone else doesn't help. This is not some first-world country where your vote makes a difference. Always remember that the ANC outnumbers everyone else, and therefore voting against them makes bugger-all difference.

Definitely wasn't true in Pta East where Afrikaners were out in force. I was in queue for 4 hours to cast my vote in a line probably 250m long filled with 90% Afrikaans people. Almost everybody I know voted.

To all those that say not voting is irrelevant:

Assume 100 total voters in CrimeLand

60 Vote for the CNA party = 60%
20 Vote for the ADD party = 20%
7 Vote for the POPE party = 7%
13 Vote for the others small parties = 13%

Now, let's say 10 of the 60 CNA voters decide not to vote for CNA or anyone else.

So now the stats are (90 votes total):

50 CNA = 55.5%
20 ADD = 22.2%
7 POPE = 7.8%
13 Other = 14.4%

So the CNA went from 60% to 55.5% by those 10 people not voting.

BUT: If those 10 people voted for any other party then (100 votes total):

50 CNA = 50%!
20+ ADD = 20%-30%
7+ POPE = 7%-17%
13+ Other = 13%-23%

So not voting is worse than being a child molester.

Funny thing, as of right now, News24 reports a 50.28% support for the DA in the Western Cape and 29.41% for the ANC. With approximately 1.3 million votes left in the Western Cape to tally, I believe it's safe to assume that - fate willing - the DA has the Western Cape in its grasp.

Not to fly in the face of your logic, but if those 426,643 DA supporters all decided, "Eh, it's not worth it. It won't make a difference" then I'm pretty sure the ANC would currently be leading.

Bear in mind that it took one vote, 426,643 times to "make a difference." Take out the "one vote" upon "one vote" upon "one vote" and you're left with nothing. That's why you should stand up for what you believe in - even if you're a lone voice, you might inspire others to do the same.

Surely you would have said the exact same thing of the ANC's 709052 votes which won the Western Cape last election? Yet by people changing their one vote the province will go probably go to the DA this election. So how is it not making a difference? You obviously not very strong with simple logic. One vote obviously does not make a large difference but a lot does. Imagine if all the 426,643 people believed that, lets see 426,643-426,643=0 (Who would have thought.)

*nod* *nod* That's the thing - a lot of "ones" combine to make bigger; stronger numbers. If a lot of "ones" decide to turn emo and feel all unloved and insecure about themselves, they never combine with the other ones to make big numbers and they will always remain alone and singular.

That's the point though - uniting for what you believe in - standing together with other like-minded individuals for the sake of making a difference - whether it's one vote or one million. Your "one vote" might be enough to make others notice the party you're fond of and look into it and, perhaps not this time, but the next, or after.

I know it sounds silly, but when you don't vote, you cut off your nose to spite your face.

You sound like a colossal ass-hat! The value for the color of a pixel is a 32bit integer in binary (Base 2) Non-base-10 numbers (wich a binary 24 bit number would be) are matric math! Changing one bit in a 24-bit value can change the base-10 value of that number by 23^2 thats 8388608! of 16777216. Thats Half! Fool

As pointed out if your right and everyone should take your advice then we would live in a 100% ANC Majority, or is that what you want?

It was on 702, the US, the UK and Australia are making it tougher for South African citizens to enter their countries. Why? Because the ANC govt doesn't want to pull THEIR FINGERS OUT OF THEIR ARSES and do something about the insecure passport.
