The impossible texting and driving test

Good grief. People riding and texting annoy the hell out of me.

Granted the test on the video was a bit extreme, I don't think many will try and write a sentence and still try avoid a collision, they would most likely immediately drop their phone, but still it gets the point across, you can't drive and text at the same time safely.

Wish people would understand this.

The Road Traffic Management Corporation added its voice to the affair, saying that it believes that all mobile phone packages should be sold with a hands-free kit

I was under the impression this was already mandatory

Texting is even worse than talking on the phone while driving. At least those who speak don't have to take their eyes off the road. It's just easier to catch someone talking on their phone because their phones are usually out of site when texting.

It's mandatory to have one installed in your car if you want to speak on your phone, but not mandatory to sell a hands-free kit with all packages.

Bit silly considering I can use the speaker on the phone and I am allowed to fiddle with my radio while driving.

Well it is safer to use the phone hands free then to use it normally. Sure there is still the distraction of the call but you at least have both hands of the steering wheel and not doing some funny hunchback move to hold your phone to your ear or using only one hand to drive.

The moment I climb into the car, the phone is off limits.

And it stays so until I climb out again.

Same here, not that I drive in a car often but when I do the ringtone can entertain me a bit. If it's important they will probably phone again.
