The iOS 11 Thread/Discussion

In other news, Apple just updated iTunes (I'm on a Mac) to support IOS11. Biggest deal with the update... No more App Store. It's all about music, movies, TV, books and podcasts now. Apps are still in your iTunes folder, obviously, but buying and updating apps now happens on your iPhone or iPad only.

I never backed up my apps to iTunes anyway. Does that mean I can uninstall it, or are backups on the PC still a thing?

If you've backed up to iCloud and don't like iTunes, the cord is well and truly cut.

My one gripe so far... auto brightness seems to be the only option available now.

EDIT - never mind - found it under Display Accommodations.

Or perhaps those who think they’re seeing it are over-imaginative and seeing things that don’t really exist or are nitpicking?

Not at all.

Go look at the diagnostic log on your device and see how much stuff is crashing and resetting etc.

Definitely not imagined.

Exaggerated maybe.

I have been on iOS 11 since beta 4. There is definitely annoying lag. iOS 10 was a lot snappier. On a 6s.

The biggest annoyance is the lag on clicking the share icon in safari. It takes close to a second for the dialog to appear. The history and tabs button react instantly.

Anyway installing GM now

Don’t mention lag. Dave is going to tell you it’s imaginary

Anyhow, if you updated via OTA, reset your settings. This has reduced some of the lag for me.

I have also noticed that the lag on iOS 11 on my side is brightness dependent. The brighter the screen the more lag. Also setting the font size to the smallest seems to make it lag on my side. If it’s on the default setting it lags less.

I’m sure by by version 11.3 it will be buttery smooth

I'm quite happy with iOS 10.3.3, not sure if I should upgrade to 11 at this stage.

Don't. Wait for 11.1 if you are happy with 10. There's nothing really special about iOS 11 anyway. The iPad gets a couple of worthwhile features but not much for the iPhone.

So far I noticed a slight decrease in battery life which I'll try to resolve tomorrow by clean installing.

I couldnt wait and downloaded the GM. I noticed my message notifications are delayed. And sometime all pop up at once. If i restart the phone, i get notifications for messages again, if i don't read it. But its still a good experience and all should be fine by the next update. I just hate not having the 3d touch to bring up the apps in use. Any shortcuts for that, instead of using the home button?

Im using a 6s+
