The iOS 11 Thread/Discussion

I take a **** lot of screenshots for *ahem* the Motoring section. This new screenshot tool is bloody brilliant! So far so good. Digging the new animations as well.

Many US sites that say "Smart Invert" is almost as good as a Night Mode can jump off a bridge. It's not even close!

That’s what I’ve been telling you guys all along.

You can also record your screen with the Control Center button.

Scanner tool in Notes is great too. No idea why it’s not just part of Camera app.

Found a bug already. Taking many screenshots not in succession. The preview feature stopped displaying. Reboot phone and it’s back to normal.

Updated my iPhone 7 to 11 last night, for some reason my Watch update failed and I fell asleep so will do the watch tonight.
So far iOS11 is just a bit heavy on the battery, I have around 20% less battery than before for this time of day, but this will probably settle over the next day or 2 as it usually does.

I updated my phone over wireless. My music library is now empty. ;(
Going app store, account, purchases, my purchases = crash.

Wonder if they will ever find a way that will allow you to do a clean install of iOS and Android without the streaming services like Netflix, Showmax and DStv Now thinking it is a new device and adding it to your quota of registered devices.

If Microsoft can do it with Windows 10, why can't they?

Will do the AW tonight (gave up waiting last night) - it still needs to be close to your iPhone, and on the charger as well, right? IIRC that's what I needed to do last time... But ja, it goes crazy slow compared to the phone and tablet!

Doc and app-switching is a pleasure to use. Just hope they bring back the Spotlight to search for apps that are not in the dock, on your Spaces - too many steps involved there. But overall, nice.

Hope Dropbox updates soon - going to be interesting to see how the D&D gets used when/if the bulk of developers starting climbing on board...

The Apple Watch needs to be on the charger and have at least 50% charge before it will update if I recall correctly. I waited for it last night but then when never got it read and realised I needed iOS11 first, which I hand't done at the time. And, yes the update takes forever (well the last one did for me)

Yes, Watch have to be on the charger and over 50% before it will install. I downloaded mine last night but for some reason the install failed, I tried again during lunch, turns out the download finished and it only had to install, I didn't exactly time it but the install on my series 2 probably took a hour.
Haven't had time to play a lot, but Watch OS4 definatly makes the series 2 more snappy.

Works reliably

Samer here, when looking at my battery usage it showed "Siri" has the highest user. I then looked in the settings for Siri (Settings=>Siri), and it seems Siri integrates with almost all my apps now. So I disabled all of them except stuff like Safari, Files, Messages, Spotlight and Apple Music).

Now the battery usage is okay again.

Updated my 6S (16Gb) and iPad Pro to iOS 11 this morning, everything running smoothly so far. Available space on my iPhone doubled, which made me very happy...scored some additional space on the iPad too. Interesting to note that the device capacity under Settings-General-About, now shows the full capacity (for example, 16Gb versus 12.3Gb).

I just chuckle at Apple, they do silly things sometimes...like the "Auto Brightness" setting, which is now hidden away under Accessibility - would have made much more logical sense to keep it under the "Display" settings!

Updated to iOS 11, but now I have no data connectivity. Voice and SMS work fine. However, I can't connect via 3G/LTE. I'm on MTN btw. I tried to reset the network settings, but it made no difference.

Anyone else with mobile data issues?

Isn't MTN down?
