Looks like widgets, phone calls no longer forced full screen and new homepage.

When I moved the rest of my mobile tech to Apple I had been watching iOS mature on the iPad. Once I saw Apple add the Folders app I knew it was only a matter of time before they incorporated more features that I enjoyed on Android.

iOS 14 is looking like the iOS I have been long waiting for
I will install the Public Beta on my aging iPad Air 2 to see if all is as it was presented to be. Truly excited for this one, the Home Screen has been BEGGING for widgets.

The big ones for me were:

Home screen Widgets with that Smart Stack, very cool:

The New Call Screen UI - this is another thing that has been seriously needing a change and I am glad Apple listened:

And then PiP is a nice addition for those who have been waiting for it, not sure I will use it much, but it’s great that it’s finally here on iPhone

EDIT:

It gets even better

Finally we can set some default apps!
iOS 14 and iPadOS 14 will let you select a default browser and email app

It has to be said though, I am very happy with Safari as my web browser, it strikes a great balance of function and efficiency.

The Mail app on the other hand I don’t mind replacing at all, never been a fan of it.

Careful installing the beta, it makes about 20-30GB of free space disappear on your device. Also Scribble isnt working for me on iPad/Pencil.

Which iPad model. I have the 10.5 pro and it worked. There is a menu in Settings called pencil where you need to activate it.

I am waiting for the Public Beta, it will be out next month, hopefully my aging iPad Air 2 will have it’s now battery by then.
