The iOS 15 Thread/Discussion

iOS 15.3 patches 10 major security flaws affecting Safari, root privileges, and more

Along with Apple’s software updates today for iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple Watch, and more, a variety of security issues have been fixed. iOS 15.3 specifically patches 10 notable security bugs ranging from the Safari web browsing leak to a flaw that can give malicious apps root privileges, and more.

We knew about the web browsing and Google account ID flaw being patched ahead of time as it arrived with the RC versions of iOS 15.3 and macOS 12.2 However, Apple has now detailed the full list of security patches with documentation showing up for iOS 15.3, watchOS 8.4, and more.

macOS 12.2 may include the same fixes, but Apple hasn’t published the security update for that just yet.

Beyond the Safari web browsing flaw, others security issues patched include apps gaining root privileges, the ability to execute arbitrary code with kernel privileges, accessing user files through an iCloud bug, and more.

Anyone else having connectivity issues since updating to 15.2.1 or is it just me?

WiFi disconnects and sometimes I cannot make or receive calls until I toggle aeroplane mode on/off (with 3 bars cell signal)

Tried rebooting the phone etc but no luck

WiFi is fine on all my other devices

iPhone 12 Pro
I had this issue for a few weeks and then it went away all by itself. iPhone 12 Mini.

After updating to 15.3 battery health dropped to 99%

What a coincidence

I know it's not really accurate, still disappointing though as I only have the device for about 5 months

How is your battery health on the 12 mini?

I've had mine since launch day which iirc was November last year, so a year and 3 months and it sits at 84%. Battery is still pretty good and I haven't really noticed a dip in performance like I did when the 6s was at 86% it was unusable.

But anyway, I've got it booked in for a new battery at the iStore as I'm not taking any chances and I love this little phone so much I'm keeping it in tip top condition and have no urge to upgrade to a 13 or even 14 when it comes.

Actually, it would be interesting to know everyone's battery health, model and age. My 8 was at 100% when I sold it at a year old after a year of constant daily use and a wireless charge overnight, every night on a generic cheapo charger. I still can't really believe it but I took pics at the time because someone questioned it on reddit :p

My iPhone 8's battery health is on 87% after three years of daily use. Overnight charging on the apple charger, during the day when necessary on the laptop's USB port.

Got my 12 Pro beginning of June last year, health has been on 100% until about 2 weeks ago, now it’s on 98% all of a sudden. Still on iOS 15.2

I try to keep it charged between 20-80%, no overnight charging, do charge it to 100% when I know I’m gonna be out the whole day

I wouldn't worry about it...my XR was 85% after 3 years - and still fine. it's going to go down after time no matter what you do.

iPhone 11 Pro - 83% after 25 months. I’m really bad with charging though, it’s always plugged in when I’m in the car (For Apple CarPlay) and I usually charge it overnight or run it below 10%.

Very true…one should stop worrying about stuff like this and just enjoy the devices. As you say, it’s gonna go down anyway.

My iPhone X was on 82% health after three years, when I sold it last year, a lot of potential buyers were put off by it, but I actually still got near identical battery life out of it compared to when it was new. Not exactly the same but pretty close.

That's also what I'm noticing with my 12 mini. But I had such a bad experience with the 6s when it hit the 80's that I suppose that's what is in the back of my mind and I'm why I'm doing a battery replacement now when I guess I don't really need to because performance hasn't noticeably dropped. But at R1099 for a replacement at the iStore it's a lot cheaper than an upgrade and keeps me sweet for another year without worrying whether performance will suffer.

Slightly sore point, my old Xr had 99% health when I sold it after 18 months.

My 12 is now around 14 months old and is on 86%. I haven't changed my usage or charging habits.

Yep, it certainly seems to be a big drop in later models over a comparatively short period of time. But as mentioned also, the performance doesn't seem to be affected so I'm not sure if the reporting method/system has changed internally?

That could well be true, I can't say I've noticed any performance change either.

IPhone 12
10 months
94 percent

Charge overnight (wireless third party)
Drains to below 20 percent about twice a month

iPhone 12 Pro, 13 months or so and I'm at 91%.

Don't really think I've experienced any issues with performance as yet

I never let mine go below 20%, and usually charge to 95%-100% and then remove. Almost never use wireless charging as I noticed it caused more heat.

iPhone 12 Pro
5 Months old
99% since yesterday

Charge overnight (Wireless Samsung charger)
Battery has never reached below 25% on any day
