The iPad2 tips and tricks thread

so just got my ipad few days ago, a tip that people can maybe give me (and i'm sure others):

how on earth do you attach a file when sending an email? Only way i have found is to go to the picture and then go send, surely there is a way to go from the email and say 'attach file' ?

Also, when i'm trying to sync all my photos on pc, (about 6000) to the ipad. it starts and all goes well, after a while the pc just switches off and when i look on the ipad nothing has been copied. Only happens on big folders, if i sync folder with say 100 pics it works fine. Can ipad not handle loads of pics?

cool thread this though. :)

Cool. Pressing the home button once, then wait for a second, then pressing it again will bring you to the ipad search screen.

Also, you can either have the switch set to mute your sounds, or lock the screen rotation (so that it won't rotate), good for when you want to read a book in bed.

Thanks for the sticky!

For obvious reasons it is advisable to do the upgrade on a fully-charged battery...

Whilst on this topic, why won't the ipad charge from pc usb?

Insufficient power coming from your USB port.

When screen is locked double-clicking on home button brings up the music player controls and camera access.

The ipad charges from usb when it is in sleep mode.

triple-clicking works for me (iOS4). It do bring up the music player and a photo frame function (where you can use the ipad as a photo frame).

To see which apps are running in the background and close them completely.

Press the Home button 2 times. It will open a bar at the bottom of the screen and show all open Apps.

If you want to close the Apps. Press and hold your finger over any Icon until the Icons wiggle. You will get a "No Entry" sign on each icon. Tap on that to close the relevant app.
4 or 5 finger swipe up also reveals the bar under IOS5.

Sweet busy downloading iTunes 10.5 first :/

I just don't want to lose any apps etc

Well that was my first syNc ever and everything still seems to be here :p

FFS 700mb on a 384k line :/

Double-tap the home button (or 4-finger swipe upwards), then drag the icons to the right. You'll see the media controls, screen brightness, orientation lock, etc.

Install shareport4w on your PC, then you can play the audio from your iPad through your PC speakers over wifi using AirPlay.

Install Boxee media manager on your pc/Mac, then tell it where your series/movies/etc are. Then install the Boxee app on your iPad. Now you can browse your media, and stream any video, regardless of format, over wifi to your iPad. Awesome when washing the dishes! ;)

Control your pc/Mac's iTunes library using the Remote app. Useful if you're chilling in the lounge and want to play something, but don't want to get up and all your music is in iTunes rather than on your device.

Oh yeah. Forgot about this feature.

Just used it now again and remembered that I wanted to share it.

Take a screenshot at any time.

If you want to take a snapshot of your screen. Press and hold the Home button, then press the Sleep/Wake/Power button.

You will here a click sound and when you go to your Camera Roll the screenshot will be there.

Also running on iOS5... downloading was a breeze with CellC....

...but when iTunes said "restoring ipad firmware" I started to stress, thinking something went wrong... :p

Should rather be "upgrading" and not "restoring"...

But all is well.

iCloud is a good option... set it to backup my contacts etc.

If you want to create folders to categorize apps without using iTunes simpl hold an icon will they start to shake, then grab one and drop it onto another, presto
