The iPod Touch 32G Help Wayne Setup Thread.

I plugged my ipod in and it sync to itunes. I went to stores and they have cool apps and they asked for an account. Do I give an American address for this and do I have to pay them anything to open this account. I was looking at free apps to learn how to download them and how they would work on my ipod.

I think that it is better to get a US account - look a the sticky on how to do this.

Your daughter can get you iTunes vouchers for paid Apps, you can get those vouchers anywhere in the US - eg when you buy your bread and milk.

ok thanks Jola.

*goes looking for something sticky, cause I have no idea what a sticky is.*

yip, my daughter came on and explained a few things and it worked. She said all i must do is connect wi fi at home and then I am sorted but I am too scared to mess with that.

Got some nice apps but some did not work cause I don't have wi fi. besides the Apple store is there another site to go to for free apps?

Unless you jailbreak, no. But I get the feeling the jailbreak thing might not be for you ;-)

There are more apps in the U.S. app store than in the S.A. one.

Strange. It means you have to uninstall and install itunes again on your pc. I will recommend an up to date version.

thanks man I tried that and still got the message I will try again.

Have such bad luck with technology.

wi fi went down at 8:15 last night. grrr!!!!

I guess you didn't read the full iTunes terms and conditions?

There was that section that requires you to pray to SJ every night, and also the one that requires you to stand to attention and shout "Heil Steve" every morning, while clicking your slippers together !!?

damn small print!!

My hearing is not as delicious as it used to be, I must have missed that part.

A googled your problem and it seems it is a more common problem than you will think.

A couple of people suggested that you need to uninstall itunes and quicktime and also something called apple mobile services (cant remember the exact name now) and then reinstall it all again by just running the itunes installer that includes all these services. This solution seemed to work for many people.

Other guys had more complicated answers, for instance :

Good luck man, hope you can sort this out!

I see that the ip for my adsl has a 2 numbers different to the ip for the wireless but the ipod had a different number altogether.

aah thanks bud let me try that. I did look for an uninstall button but did not find one. I will delete/uninstall it through control panel or something and reinstall it.

ok this is a stupid question but will wi fi still work if my pc is off cause the wi fi card with the aerial is connected to the pc?
