Hi Guys

So to sum up after all this Telkom high blood pressure, after November 1 we have the following.

1. If you want 30 GB local 3 GB international and the ability to use international after your 3 GB at reduced speeds you go to OPENWEB or NUKECAP and keep the concurrent connections off-couse

2.If you want pre-paid you go for WEBAFRICA -with con-current connections

3. if you want 10 GB local/internatinal but only one connection -you go SAOL.

Any other thoughts here guys.

Fair Play?

:mad: I just want to say that most ISP's have played fairly up until now, but I must mention an incident that occurred this morning;
A soon to be client phoned in to querie certain prices, etc. and I soon found out that this person had shopped around, and had spoken to a representative at AXXESS prior to phoning me.

What she told me was that this person said SAOL cannot afford to offer the packages that we do, and that the only way we can do so is by offering a 10GB package and only supplying 3GB international and the rest local. Luckily this lady had the presence of mind to actually phone us to get the facts.

This type of underhandedness is not on, and to slander your competition in order to try and secure clients is despicable.

I hope this is an isolated case, and that this is not common practice amoungst ISP's.

EISH, I admire the ISP's for putting up with this sh*t, you guys are in a difficult business.

Marko, I love the fact you guys are offering reasonably priced SAIX accounts, I just cant see how this business model holds up for taking on new 'high volume' customers... But I guess we'll have to wait and see. Btw... I'm switching from axxess to you guys.

wanna stick it to axxess with some competitive provider switch specials? :)

While I don't agree with underhanded tactics at all, it's understandable as it's unclear how SAOL intends on offering the 10Gb service at the price you're advertising. Total clarity would clear that up. I for one assume you're "contending" your bandwidth.

Fair Play?

Yes, it could appear that we are offering an unsustainable package deal with our 10GB ADSL, but without divulging company secrets, we would not be offering this deal if we were unable to provide what we promise. We serve a lot of clients, and they rely on our integrity, and are bound by our terms and conditions in the same way that we are.

It would be unethical, therefore, to advertise a product, only to be unable to deliver when push came to shove.

mark I'm still waiting for that phone call the guys promised me two days ago in an email regarding this 10 gig package I was interested in.....

thats the sort of answer I like.

saol seems to be on the up and up, while many others are going down.

I like WebAfrica

There service is good, although at times they take long to reply to mails...

BTW#:- Has anyone ever thought of going onto pre-paid, atleast bandwidth is not lost + you can buy as you have money.

I am going that route, buyign 1 GIG at a time.

All the ISP's have their niche, I'm happy with WA and I agree, the thought of being able to buy non-expiring unshaped bandwidth as required really appeals. (got gaming mates overseas) But we'll see what happens over the next few months.

If you are looking for a SAIX account, I recommend SAOL. They are the most professional ISP I have dealt with so far.

Well done guys!

We are still waiting for the owner of Axxess to get back to our CEO concerning certain untruths that have been told concerning SAOL -

Hi all,

I am happy to say that Franco from Axxess called me to clear up the misunderstanding and he told me that the staff concerned have been reprimanded.

Sincerely
Tarquin Douglass

I have not dealt with SAOL, but for me con-current connections are important, and if you look at the SAOL site, there price for con-current connections are not competitive at all..

Example SAOL 5 Gb with 4 con-currrent = R399.00
Webafrica pre-paid 5 Gb with 4 con-current = R375...+ if I will not loose the unused bandwidth.

Yeah I only noticed that on closer inspection...
First time I just glanced the site and thought I'll be getting an account for sure, but I need those concurrent connections.
In that case, stick with Axxess, R349 for 5gb...
