The LONMIN share price thread

It keeps saying: This security is currently unavailable for trading

So can't tell you if you'll be able to buy.

Does that include selling or just buying?

Seems to be both when it says that.

I think it is due to the sell/buy spread

Quite a few times today the sell price was way more than the buy price, therefore a negative spread for these companies...I guess they discontinue trading on their part then. Makes sense since they don't want/need to lose money. I am a noob trader, but it will be something along those lines.

In your opinion is Lonmin going to tank, or will they raise the required money.

It might raise the required capital, but that doesn't mean it will be able to continue to operate much longer. For Lonmin to survive the platinum price has to go up and quickly. I can't see that happening without one of the major producers folding and Lonmin seems most likely.

It will probably have something to do with the people who actually own the shares...are only willing to sell at a certain price, while the people who want to buy shares, are only willing to buy at a lower price...therefore the market closes until the gap closes....

Like now the spread is 65/60 (sell/buy), so you wont be able to buy now....

What gap?

Thanks.

Lonmin is definitely a gamble, but from the little of what I have researched it does seem that Platinum is at its low point and is set to rise again. Only speculation though...

I also did read that it seems that Platinum needs to rise significantly for Lonmin to survive.

It could be a temporary downturn for platinum, but looking at the rest of the commodities and the global economy it seems more likely that this is the start of a down cycle for commodities.

It's worth noting that the rights offer is underwritten, meaning the underwriter will take up the balance of any left over shares at the end of share offer period. It'd be a vote of no confidence in the company by shareholders to be sure but they'll be able to limp along a little while longer.

EE is trading on our behalf, so it is a timing issue most probably.

I wanted to buy at .48, but the actual price came to .52

Confused, I checked EE site, it said 50c, bought immediately and after I paid it said 64c. How does that work?

EE is 15min delayed, but your buy/sell is at the live price.

EE shouldn't be used for trading.
