The LONMIN share price thread

I made about 2k in Curro after their jump the past week and a half. I just wish I invested more.

But, that being said, I think that Curro is a great long-term investment. I see no reason why their share price cannot go to the R100-R150 mark within the next 2-3 years, perhaps even faster.

Yes Sir, any company backed by Jannie mouton is worth my moola.

I only have R5k in curro at the moment, I was planning on dumping the lonmin "profits" in it and take a few to explore forex

Do anyone know where I can find out which companies own shares in Lonmin and the percentage they own?

Alot of guys seem to be missing the point,Lonmin is a short term trade.Regardless of the platinum price the company is in deep trouble and it's run very poorly. It's not a long term hold,I'm only in for a short term gamble / interest. Just be careful and don't throw money you need at it.I certainly wouldn't put 100k in,your exposure would be too great and would be better spent else where.

Listen to this man.

There are better options available to get a steady return

So I should buy tomorrow then?

I don't know, if you want to buy rather wait until after the consolidation. If you have R100K to play with, buy Sasol. They're sitting at R380 (last checked this morning), that share will probably be trading above R450 in a few weeks*.

*this is not investment advice, just an opinion based on watching the market from a casual person.

I didn't know one could see volumes traded.
Does this show how much shares were bought for that day?
Or sold, or bought and sold?

The number bought has to equal the number sold in general... (you can't buy something no-one is selling)

Let's say some foreign company decides to buy a big chunck of lonmin. How much would the share price increase?

What do you guys think another 5 - 10 years until the next bull run?

If Lonmin makes their $407M then the share price wouldn't necessarily drop below 20c. Would it?

Fundamentally, a share price is determined by supply and demand. If there is not a demand for a company's shares and suddenly one person invests R10m, this does not necessarily means the share price will sky-rocket or even increase for that matter.

Yes it could. Why not?

Have you taken a look at what happened with Lonmin's shares the past year, in more detail this year? This is typically what happens when your big investors starts selling off and there is no more demand from them. Your R100k will be a piss drop in the ocean for them when compared to the real big players.
