The LONMIN share price thread

Ugh I wanted to buy earlier in the week after reading this thread and never got to it. In any case, I'd like to join Easy Equities. Thor187, what is your referral code?

You gone for few hours miss all the opportunities fck.

Tell me about it !!!! ****sakes, guess if you want to do proper trading it will have to become your day job lol

There are actually people who do this for a living and this is a full-day work in itself. Just imagine a nice house by the beach, sitting in your backyard on your laptop trading while having a great view of the ocean...

The CFD trading is extremely crazy and fun to watch. I can see that you can quickly make a bucket load of cash, but just as quickly lose the same amount....

So my equity at the beginning of all of this was R3,500 - this is the amount I deposited. It now stands at R24,086, which means I effectively made a profit of R20,586 from my R3,500 investment - today only.

This morning I was at risk of around R7,800 (incl. my initial deposit) if Lonmin went broke today. By bying and selling at different levels during today, I am now only risking around R1,500 of my initial deposit if Lonmin goes broke tommorow, and I am exposed to an additional 10,000 shares than this morning.

Just to add, if I knew what I was doing today....I think I could have doubled my profit.

Whether they survive is up to China's 5 year plan

I did a little cfd trading 2 years ago on IG markets

That is not something you want to do unless you can sit 24/7 and monitor stuff

You can make a k3k load of money, but you can loose, owe a k3k load too just as quickly

The thing with trading on margin is that you can lose more than you initially invested.

Unless your broker margins calls you

So how do I jump onto this band wagon?

I want to get into stock trading but not sure how?

Saw that the easy equities site was giving issues.

Other options?

You don't seem to comprehend what political pressure means.

The ANC aint bailing out anyone

Please explain to me how you believe political pressure is going to keep Lonmin's doors open.

Other options?

IG, FNB (three products), OST (standard bank), ABSA, GT24/7 (same people as Easy Equities), ETFSA

It all depends on how much you are going to be trading. If you are not trading a good couple of thousand rand at a time then these bigger platforms might be too expensive, hence the appeal of Easy Equities (their bigger more featured platform being GT247). So for trading small amounts your options are:

Easy Equities, FNB's Share Saver (forces you to buy into RMB40 and RMBMID..top 100 companies on JSE) which is very cheap and automated and ETFSA which allows you to only buy into ETFs. Despite what some of these overly emotional and rash decision makers are saying on this site, Easy Equities is still a very good option if you want to build wealth over the long term.

FNB's Share Builder is relatively cheap but you can only buy from a select bucket of shares they think is best. Then there is FNB's Share Investor which is expensive but fully featured like OST.

If I'm not mistaken ABSA's trading platform's trading costs (or some fee) falls away if you trade more than 5 times a month...or something like that. You'll need to investigate.

The benefit of using your bank's trading platform is that it is integrated into your online banking stuff.

Don't most of these places 0 out trading costs after a couple trades?
