It was because at the time you had strikers who were not playing their true role, look at rooney's form for england you would see the same thing.The guy was playing so far back you could have confused him as a defender.

Media/supporters wanted him out of the team as a result of his pathetic attempts at playing the striker role.

Fail to see how that's Ronaldo's fault, dude. Also, no one wanted him out of the side, they wanted him back in his original role. And something good came out of it, too. Rooney proved his tracking/defending chops, and Ferguson is exploiting that talent when needed, like in the Inter game, where Rooney was deployed to make sure Maicon couldn't roam freely up and down the pitch.

That is down to the media as much as anything else. The British press loves to raise teams up to ridiculous expectations and then destroy them when they fail to achieve what they (the press) have said they would.

Chelsea supporters weren't nagging about the Treble because they were never in a position to win it.
 
Every team is in a position to win it at the beginning of the season, but it is only United supporters who nag and nag about it.

At the beginning of the season is quite different from being 15 games away from it. It's an achievement to be proud of either way.

Has nothing to do with the media, United supporters have been going on about winnning everything long before the media even mentioned it.

No other supporters are that stupid to believe that at the start of a season....as genius said you didnt see the chelsea supporters going on about the treble and they stood a good a chance as united on getting it.

LOL. No one goes on about it from the start of the season. It is now, with less than two months of the season left, that it matters.

If you have been watching footie for 23 odd years and you think Ronaldo is lightweight... Another 23 years won't help you much. Also, Ronaldo scored some absolute scorchers last year. Give credit where credit is due.

Look at his nick... dbecks, the operative letters being BECKS. He's probably got some fetish with right sided United players. Having said that - his obsession with Ronaldo and the Mancs is only a mirror for certain Catalan supporters on this forum. There are differences (as in I actually believe the Catalan crew actually research their viewpoints... etc etc etc).

There is some substance in your post - yes David Beckham was one of my all time favorite players at United(hence the nick) so was Cantona (good observation there smokey but more to do with number 7;)).

You also may see my support of United it as an obsession and yet again you may be right. I love my team and the players unconditionally and will defend them at every chance and its good enough for me (dont see a problem with that). I also thoroughly enjoy the banter and rivalry more than anything. I could research extensively to show my googling skills (if necessary then I will) but its just seems to stiff for a football forum at most times (IMHO). In actual fact I'm tired of research altogether (two honor degrees a an incomplete masters later) so for me its all about having fun while supporting my team, and getting to poke at the haters and rivals (being on the United forum you cant, cause they all support the same team)
There are some pretty smart guys/gals on this forum so that makes for good reading (for me I will add my ManUtd "Fan Boy" flavor;))

Phew! this "letting all out" therapy really does help (now I know why you do it Genius;))

His a bandwagon jumper who started supporting a team and player because at the time it was the most comercial thing to do.
