The Mars One project has been declared bankrupt

Porn. Wouldn't mind seeing Adriana Marais in less.

The moment I saw them signing up volunteers without a contingency of marines I knew it was fake :p

For a Theoretical Physicist, she should have known this to be an impossibility at this time.

good, i never understood the idea behind 'catapulting' people to another planet, its not the dark ages.

Interesting video on Mars and colonizing it.

I am starting to doubt that any of these Mars One guys have even considered half of these issues when trying to colonizing Mars

Unless it's for science...

lol.. for science /meme

i reckon! build a station in orbit around the planet first. travel between here and there. travel between mars orbit and surface. nobody needs to be flung anywhere. :D

Anybody that actually believed this is a moron.

No training programme in the works, no budget ($100 million lol), no actual spacecraft, let alone test launches etc. etc. Full of random applicants like cosplayers and sushi chefs with zero spaceflight experience.

Load of hot-air from the get go. I was wondering what excuse they would use as their exit strategy.

Imagine where our space tech would be by now if there was another fully habitable planet in the solar system. We would likely have people there by now or almost there. Mars is a waste of time. Its more of a proof of concept for actual missions hundreds of years from now to viable planets

We would have a better chance on Mars than a planet with existing life. If there is life it would include bacteria and micro organisms that we have no immunity too.

Did you donate? If not then why are you bemoaning the fact that they didn't raise enough money for the venture? And how many people do you know with spaceflight experience that it becomes a factor in your mind?

Some people just like tickling other people's chickens.

Yep, I know he said that. But, IWBWISI.

4 months ago I would have also translated ElonSpeak by doubling the number and adding a random number between 3 and 10. But this switch from composites to stainless steel has really sped things up. By July the hopper will be doing test flights to 5 km, or have blown up (Knowing that lot - they'll probably wait for July 14). By next year the Starship will be in testing. My money is 2022

I think you misunderstand.

It was only not feasible because they had no plan for funding, their plan was to find some people and then generate a large amount of publicity and then find away to turn that publicity into money.

Its definitely possible to get to Mars with the right funding. Elon will do this, firstly because he will get the funding but also because he has proven again and again that his ideas work.

No. Because I'm not an idiot.

This was clearly a fly-by-night operation with nothing except a website and a marketing campaign. They didn't even have rockets. You telling me they were going to go from nothing to landing people on Mars in less than ten years?

This isn't just a question of money. Space agencies have been around for decades, SpaceX almost 20, and even they can't pull it off yet. But these guys were going to get money, rip through decades of R&D, construct the spaceships, test them, train people, and land there before anybody else? Ha!

There's one born every minute.
