The 'Massive' Gauteng Weather and Storm Warning Thread! The Sequel

Seems like the forecast is starting to look rather dry now. I also see we are going back to 27/28 next week. Kind of annoying. The last week has been great
I don't suppose you come out of your house/flat to do some outdoor activities like sports or some silly thing like that ?

We had 45mm in that storm yesterday, but it was extremely isolated. Quite literally 5km in any direction was still bone dry.

I wasn't home but my dad said it was something else, rain and lightning swirling in from every direction.

This afternoon is was bucketing down approx 5pm.

Drove from south of JHB going North. On the N1 at Bayers i couldn't see a thing, my wipers were doing nothing. The amount of water coming down was insane

In Randpark Ridge just off Beyers, we experienced the same storm. In our small complex garden, we probably had 4 - 5 cm of water. Not too much lightning, but the storm itself was exceptional.

(As a side note, our gutters were replaced recently. They have since buckled over 90 degrees. The water was running straight off the roof bypassing the gutters :()

And back to warm temps we go. Hopefully winter is nice and cold this year. 27 in March isn't on

Had 3 or 4 mm this morning and its raining gently again. Even had decent sun in the afternoon to nearly fill the batteries.

It started raining yesterday morning at about 07:00 while I was out cycling and was caught in a massive downpour the last 20km of our 65km club ride. Drizzling throughout the day and it then started raining harder again late yesterday afternoon, raining throughout the night. This morning our rain gauge was almost completely filled up, indicating about 83mm of rain. Currently still drizzling outside.

So far it seems the SAWS medium term forecast was spot on.

It called for a below average for JFM, and above average for MAM. Lets see how the MAM period continues to play out.
