The Mazda CX-5 Thread

Yep same kept mind the same want the stock ride and handling. I replaced mine with Kumho, was easy to find.
Ok thanks, how much did you pay if you don't mind me asking and how do they compare to the original Toyo A36

Was around R3k and it's a better tyre in my opinion in terms of grip and ride quality.

Isn't the diesel AWD and the petrol 2.5 only FWD. If you're torn between the two then getting AWD as a bonus is surely the way to go.

I've tested the diesel it's incredible, smooth and that torque is so addictive.

As I understand it the AWD system adds some weight to the car (which decreases the economy). The one thing I am a bit perplexed about is my fuel economy, I haven't had the car very long, just over a month, but I filled it up the one day and it said my range was about 680km, which is not great considering it has got a 65L tank (I think) and its diesel, but I can live with it if its city driving etc. However, I had the AA system installed and then filled up again and now it says my range is around 450km! I can't understand hy, the consumption is around 9.5-11L/per 100, I assume that comes way down on long open roads, I haven't had the chance to test it though. I don't know if anything was reset/messed up during the install, I wouldn't think so, I think they just disconnected the battery.

Anyone else getting bad range readings? what kind of range would you expect from a full tank with 9.5L/100?

Thats strange!? Did you turn off any of the economy features, istop etc?

I get 8 - 8.5. It will go to 9 if my wife goes shopping(she thinks she's on a drag strip wherever she goes)

It does sometimes give me an incorrect range after I fill up especially if I've been darting around town. But the range increases as soon as I hit the open road again. My commute is mixed but the town portion on straight and un-congested.

No I still have i-Stop enabled, (I worry that the stop-start is bad for the diesel though?) I will try hit the open road a little and see if it comes back up, I also noticed that when I fill up, I get almost 100km before the needle starts to move, now I have done about 60 and its moving! maybe the guy filled up more the time before, I dont know Im a little paranoid :/

Are your tyre pressure correct as this can influence your consumption. Also try to drive more conservative and see if your L/100km goes down. Drive like 60/80km pH for like 20km and then see.

I checked the air pressure a few days ago, 2.5bar all round. Will try get some long distance on the weekend. My normal traffic consists of 12km of witkoppen.

Yeah something is off, my Ford Ranger with the same 2.2 Diesel gets better fuel economy than your CX5 with no skyactiv, being heavier and with off road tyres. I also carry goods and sometimes tow a trailer weighing 1ton or more. Been towing the last week and i'm sitting on 10l/100. Don't know if that's helpful, but again it's open road but still very very hilly.

I honestly think it came about after the AA upgrade, I will drive out this tank and refill again and if its still the same I will take it in. The problem is it takes me like 2 weeks to get through a tank, I only drive about 25Km a day.

Not sure if this was discussed here, but has anyone taken the extended warranty offered by Mazda? There is an option to extend by an extra 2 years for R5900. Is it worth it?
Anyone taken any extended service plans or converted to a maintenance plan? I'm trying to weigh up my options. I have a 2018 2.5l Fwd with 11200km.

I've also done the AA upgrade on mine so it cant be that. The upgrade is simply plugging in a new usb port can't be related. Only thing the dealers probably did different to my self install is that they would have unplugged the battery(silly really but the dealer instructions will want that). That might have reset your fuel economy memory, mine didn't because I never unplugged my battery. But your economy will return to normal once you log enough kms.

But saying the usb cables give you terrible fuel economy is like saying when they play a new Taylor Swift song on the radio your tyres deflate.

Hi guys, its robably not the correct group and stuff, but I've got the previous gen cx5, 2015 with the MZD connect touch screen, can the AA be retro fit to this device...? Or is the there thread about the previous gen, so I can read up myself....?

Yeah, all previous Mazda MZD models support AA, they will update your software first to v70 and then install new cable and USB unit which support USB3 and USB2

Mine was already extended with the previous owner. I doubt you gonna need it if you have the petrol version, diesels are different

Does anyone know if the latest 2019 Akera spec now includes Adaptive Cruise Control?
Or is it still old school standard version?

Knowing that the 0-100 time for the >2018 twinscroll 140kW diesel has been incorrect all along at 9.5 seconds, I don't trust the brochure.
