The Mazda CX-5 Thread

Yeh, I'm scared to wait not knowing when the release will be. Need the car by end July/begin August latest...

Discounts generally get better when the newer car is closer to being released so wait it out for as long as you can

This is what I was thinking too. Especially with previous model demos becoming available too.

Ok thanks a lot. Was offered an effective 6.5% discount on the Active Auto yesterday, excluding OTR costs.
On top of that they also offered me a very attractive price for my 2003 VW polo, more than I asked or expected.

Called a Mazda dealership now to inquire about demo availability. The lady said there's one that's soon to be a demo, but when it comes to demos, they aren't able to negotiate on price with demos, as they are on new models. So while a demo might be 10k cheaper maybe, they often have more than that to play around with on new cars and have more leverage with trade-ins for new cars too. It probably is (I don't really trust anything a salesperson says), but not sure if this is just sales drek?

New Mazda CX-5 on sale this June priced from £23,695

The second-generation CX-5 heralds a 'new era' of passenger comfort and simple design

The new Mazda CX-5 will go on sale in the UK on 30 June priced from £23,695.

That starting price makes the second-generation model £500 more than the equivalent current generation model, but the latest car gets a bolstered list of standard features and striking design both inside and out.

Just two trim levels are offered, SE-L Nav and Sport Nav. As standard the CX-5 gets features including 17in alloy wheels, start/stop technology, automatic LED headlights, parking sensors, DAB radio, satnav and a 7in colour touchscreen.

The Sport Nav starts at £26,695 and extends the specs list with 19in alloys, heated front seats, a 10-speaker Bose sound system and keyless entry, among other things.

First revealed at the Los Angeles motor show in November, the new CX-5 comes as Mazda looks to continue its global momentum, spurred on by the popularity of SUVs.

Mazda developing 7-seater version of CX-5 – report

Mazda is reportedly developing a seven-seater version of its new CX-5 crossover, with a possible reveal set to take place at the Los Angeles Auto Show towards the end of the year.

According to motoring.com.au, this new seven-seater model has been conceived to compete with the likes of the Volkswagen Tiguan Allspace, the upcoming Honda CR-V and the Land Rover Discovery Sport.

The Australian publication speculates that the new model might just end up being called the CX-6, or even the CX-7, if the Japanese automaker chooses to revive this badge.

The same report suggests that the brand has no plans to add a turbocharged petrol engine to its new CX-5 range, instead sticking with the familiar 2,0-litre (and 2,5-litre, in some markets) petrol and 2,2-litre turbodiesel options, adding that Mazda “will not release a turbocharged CX-5 – wearing MPS badges or not – until the third-generation model appears around 2021”.

The second-generation CX-5 – which is scheduled to be launched in South Africa in the second quarter of this year – was revealed late in 2016, with the Hiroshima-based automaker last month increasing production in a bid to meet “growing demand”.

Was there a car in that video? Dayum Jenna is quite a bit of alright.

I predict it will sell better than the outgoing model by quite a bit.

You may be right, and that will be impressive if it does. The outgoing model has sold quite well in SA.
The new CX-5 is pure fire. Keen to see how they price it.

The current model is Australia's biggest seller mid-size SUV seller. That is very impressive.

Mazda 3 is also popular there. It's almost like Mazda is their VW when compared to ZA.

Edited:
Mazda is second, while VW is 8th. Mazda3 is the 4th best selling car after the Corolla. VW doesn't even have a car in the top 10.
