The Mazda CX-5 Thread

Great stuff
It needs to behave so that some time later you can give us a detailed review.

It’s going for it’s last motor plan service next Monday. After that I have 2 years of warranty and then I’ll probably get rid of it. By then though it will only be worth about 300k if that

Personally i am happy with our 2L version and going to keep it for long.
The diesel versions seem to be unstable and have mood swings.

I really like Mazda as they offer some premium level and are well solid cars.

From what i have read on the research i have done on the CX-5's it seems the mirror issue is the most common one.

The diesel models seems to be unreliable and have their issues were as the petrol models keep on running not needing much attention to keep them on them on the road.

Their petrol engines do tend to be more reliable in the long run. I guess they know that hence why they don't really offer diesels

Those of you guys who own Mazdas are the naturally aspirated engines underpowered? I know people complain about the lack of power on Mazda's and non turbo Honda's but surely they are going to be way more reliable than anything Europe can produce?

I know Mazda have 2.5 motor which has more power. We are happy with our 2L motor hence why i will hold on to the car for longer as it an awesome drive.

The Mrs daily's it and no complains at all from her.

*Update on LHS mirror Actuator *

So Friday i took the car in to Tip Top tyres Hatfield branch but they struggled to get it fixed and they had booked a back up appointment with Mazda to assist.

The Mirror actuator got replaced and Mazda reported back that the RHS needs to be replaced too as it is malfunctioning.

So got a quote from TIP TOP TYRES HATFIELD which i have submitted to AA Warranties for approval so that it can get sorted too.

Outstanding customer service from Tip Top Tyres.

So I got my car back from the service yesterday, if you guys have read this thread through you would have noticed I complained about having to replace the rear brake pads at my last service. Well the cars almost on 30k, it’s had a new set of rear pads and now apparently they are at 50% where the front pads are at about 60%?? How on earth am I chewing through rear pads like that? Is the breaking split 30/70 or something? I think I’ve done just over 5000km since they were replaced, at this rate I’ll be replacing them every 10 000

Anyone else had this issue?

The uneven break wear could be due to your discs. Good to check the thickness and evenness of the discs out.

And that‘s very high brake wear.
How often do you take your CX-5 around the Kyalami circuit?

I am with Leo here @AsteriskUser, sounds like maybe your pads are worn out as it does not make sense that the car would needs new rear pads in less than 10 000km.

I had our pads replaced, have done about 5500km and they still look new.
Mazda needs to own up here and sort this out.

The discs were machined when the pads were changed. Sadly I haven’t gone to an open track day but I do drive it a bit like it’s a smaller car so maybe that’s it. Who knows. I’ll take it to a brake place I trust to have a look at it.

Another possibility could be the OEM pads are a softer variety, so they wear out much quicker. You would notice a lot of brake dust on your rims (black).

But I think that’s a good plan getting someone to check it out. Hope you come right.

All-New Mazda CX-5 On the Way

The Mazda CX-5's replacement has been detailed, here's what we know so far.

The Mazda CX-5 is a popular SUV both globally and in South Africa. However, despite revisions and the addition of the Mazda CX-5 Carbon, it is nearing the end of its lifespan. There's no doubt Mazda will be keen to replicate its success with the current model and the next-generation CX-5 is taking shape.

Thanks to Best Car Web in Japan, we get an idea of when the all-new Mazda CX-5 will be revealed as well as some details about the new models. The big news is regarding the Mazda Large Architecture platform, which will support longitudinal powertrains as well as rear-wheel drive, unlike the current transverse/front-wheel-drive setup.

When is the new Mazda CX-5 being revealed?

The source goes onto say the new Mazda CX-5 will be revealed in December 2022, with the new Mazda CX-3 being showcased before that in June 2022. To whet your appetites, Mazda is planning a new Mazda2 reveal for September 2021 and a new Mazda6 for April 2022.

I use my 2.0 for work. Had my rears replaced at last service. 90 000 km ( 21 months )

Depends.
If you had a turbo before, it will feel underpowered, not helped by software on the auto box, which kicks down constantly.

Do that, dealers lie all the time about such things.

It's a front wheel drive car, therefore it's front biased as far as weight is concerned, that's why the rear brakes and discs are usually smaller than the front. It will be have EBD and brake assist so the rear brakes are also more active than in any normal car without EBD but that is still no reason for them to wear faster as the front brakes will always be the ones doing most of the work.
