The Mazda CX-5 Thread

So anyways... I bought the RAV :)

Was not happy with the 2 missing services on the CX5 - my research- the miller cycle engines MUST be maintained as per the schedule. I wasnt willing to take the chance.

As for the RAV... service books were confirmed by Toyota... an email to Culemborg/Cape City Toyota was all it took.

Car went on Auction for the right price. Minister of Finance approved the tender. The only thing needing solving was getting the car from PE to the WC.

On Sunday evening, we jumped on a bus to PE. Arrived before opening time. Even met random dude doing the same thing... He was going to look at a landrover he reserved. The bus ride was actually not bad tbh.

Got to WBC before opening time. at 9 AM they let us in.

There wasnt a need for a test drive, but we did one anyways... car is stronk like bool!

Paperwork, fill up and off we were.

Drove to George, spent the night, and hit the road again yesterday and got home around 5 ... lekker adventure. Stopped along the way to smell the roses etc. and a proper test drive (800 odd Kms). Did i mention Stronk like bool ?

used a tank of fuel

Very happy, Alhamdulillah.
Congrats, enjoy your new ride dude

Congrats, we all love to hear a happy ending ;)

Many miles/kilos of good service.

Pop some pics perhaps, yes this is a CX-5 thread lol
Will pop some in the Rav thread when i get a chance.

I have graduated to Ballie... i drive a Camry on Steriods...

but the cream leather interior... thats the difference between wanna be Ballies and For Reals Ballies. It reminds me of the Merc 123's that my grandad used to own back in the day :) strictly cream leather... this is the way

The mazda CX-5's are petrol motors are impressive.

I have been thinking of buying one with 200 000km and enjoy it
I saw a 2020 one on webuycars i think that has 360 000km.

2015 Mazda CX5 2.0 Active Auto,IMG_1928.jpg
just crossed 250 000 km. Owned Since new, not a days problem to mention.
- 3 x sets or tyres
- 4 x sets brakes pads
- 2 x sets wipers
- Almost bought and replaced the rear view camera, but it fixed itself removing it and drying
- Loose spoiler always coming lose and making rattles, double sided tape between the rear wind screen and the spoiler fixed that
- Door rubbers are now coming lose, still to fix this.
- Small Fender bender, that resulted in a new drivers door panel in 2024, three months wait for parts though
- 3 x Windscreen changes due to chips. One was 4 months wait due to Covid in 2020
- 2 x Drive belts changes
- All Services up to date at the Stealers, which have taken care of 4 Mazda through them, even though the two were essentially a Rangers, BT-50’s

This has been a highlight of our maintenance journey, even we’ve had cars with high’ish mileages, but kudos to Mazda for a fantastic product, I trust this product that I’d buy it again, same model if it has had the same love care as mine!!!!

Excellent, what are your thoughts on servicing at the Stealer? My wifes '21 CX-5 is due now for the 90k but servicing seems pricey at Mazda if i compare them to servicing my Lexus at the stealer

I would expect nothing less from a Mazda CX-5 and these 2/2.5L engines are in their own league.

- Our 2017 auto is sitting on 132 000km averaging 8.2L/100km with a heavy foot and not trying to drive economically with no major issues outside of normal service items (tyres, brake pads, battery, wiper blades etc)
- I have 3 neighbors who have them:
a) 2018 2L auto- 165 000km and it averages 7L /100km

b) 2018 2L auto- 242 000km * this one has just needed 1 cv boot and it averages 7.3L/ 100km

c) 2018 2L manual- 251 000km *averages 6L/100km* i was shocked

Oh my aunt 2L auto is still sitting on roughly 92 000km- need to check mileage *

I still say that these CX-5's are solid, reliable and well build SUV. I would buy another one and look for a 2.5L for that extra power as they provide for peace of mind motoring which doesn't cost much to keep on the road.
