Love KSE and Trivium pretty good too. :)

Avant garde metal or bust!

Dillinger Escape Plan
Mr.Bungle
Sleepytime Gorilla Museum

and some alt. metal:

Tomahawk
Polkadot Cadavre

The Dillinger Escape Plan and Mike Patton-Irony is a dead scene, is a testament to just how creative the more extreme side of music can be. Of course if math-metal gives you a headache, then the added weight of MP's unbridled insanity will just about blow your brains out!

Nice, the metal thread.

Just a comment on something luminous said re. In Flames. I dunno, I just can't get into In Flames. Their sound kinda annoys me, not sure why.

Most of my favourite metal bands have been mentioned but I'd like to add Opeth, Dethklok (greatest fake band eva) and Mastodon.

@BlueCollar
You won't be dissapointed, especially at acid bath. They only brough out two albums before their bassist was killed by a drunk drive rin the 90's and after that they split up. IMHO the best album is "When the kite string pops", and the other album is "Pagan terrorism tactics". Both amazing albums. The thing that makes acid bath great is that no 2 songs of them sound the same. The songs varies from screaming guitar riffs, thundering basslines and drum solos, with maniacal screaming vocals, to soft arpeggios, running down like drops of water (and most of the time, all this happens in one song)

Both of these bands form part of this weird genre called sludge metal. Sludge metal is a combination of stoner metal, with just a hint of blues thrown in (tune low, play slow)to the mix, and then heavy dark thundering riffs to top the cream off. A good commercial album that reeks of sludge is Down with their album NOLA.

Another awesome band to look at is EYEHATEGOD, but its not easy on the ears and does take some time to get used to, their track listing contains such gems as "I am god and I hate you" and "Jack@ss in the will of god".

But with Acid Bath, try these classics like : "Bones of Baby dolls", "Cassie eats cockroaches", "Graveflower", "Venus Blue", "Bleed me an ocean", "Dr Seuss is dead", "Morticians flame"

Finally got Dillinger Esacape Plan-Ire Works(had to import) and it's one hell of a ride through chaos, beauty and general silliness. They have reached a great balance between all out math metal, electronica and more straighforward rock.
