The METAL Thread

Question... Have you ever wondered Why most occult/satanic metal bands' lyrics are against Christians, Jesus/Christ and God?? .. Think about it...

Answer... Because the God of the Christians are the only TRUE GOD.
They never seems to write lyrics against any other religions.. only the God of the Christians.

Anyways.. rock on mense

Lived experience I guess, most of these bands come from countries where Christianity is the main religion.

Scandinavian bands are usually against it because their ancient Viking culture was pretty much eradicated by Christians (see: church burnings). But it's generally a case of Satan being God's adversary in their eyes otherwise, and not sure when last I read about ex-Muslim or Jewish Satanists. Of course, that only applies to Luciferian Satanists. The vast majority only do it for shock value, anyway (even the kvlt BM bands).

Using Behemoth as an example, they aren't actively Satanists as such, but live in a religiously oppressive country, so are basically just being rebellious teenagers.

On the other side of the pond, Glen Benton (Deicide) once said that he his beef isn't with God, it's with Christians. And Tom Araya (Slayer) is a Catholic.

You need to broaden your metal horizon :p Try Taake, they have direct anti-muslim, anti-islamic songs and references.

Taake's nomination for the 2012 Spellemann award was criticized, due to anti-Islamic lyrics in their song "Orkan". It includes the line "Til Helvete med Muhammed og Muhammedanerne; utilgivelige skikker" ("To hell with Muhammad and the Muhammadans; unforgivable customs"). Hoest replied that "we do not encourage either violence or racism," adding "our view, in the name of freedom of expression, is that it is shameful to adhere to Christianity or Islam. Incidentally, Christianity is mentioned in the same lyrics, but that doesn't seem to have been given any emphasis".[21]

What @KantSnyer said is also true, most of the metal bands most of us listen to come from majority Christian countries.

I disagree, check some interviews with Nergal. The man is quite talented and not _just_ a rebellious teen. This is the kind of thing I think believers tell themselves when they are having some cognitive dissonance when the band they're listening to is anti their religion...

Nergal is fighting for his right to offend Christians. Unfortunately for him, Poland has strict blasphemy laws, so he's often in court. Won't ever criticise his talent as a musician, though.
