Nope going to Sepulfest their final breakup festival. Super amped for that one. First saw them live in Newton JHB back in the day just after Max left.

Only thing that sucks is Eloy is not on the drums. He is a beast, between him and Dave Lombardo, I see he has joined Slipknot.

I do agree.

let people enjoy what they want to enjoy.

I also saw them in Gandalfs? Mordor? IDK some place in Cape town in the early 2000's I was down visiting a friend and we randomly went to the club and they were playing a show.
Roots and Ratamahatta are still some of my favorites because of the energy they had there. and I did not know them before the show at all.

ghost is Bon Jovi with "satanic" lyrics.

if you want to listen to Bon Jovi, go listten to Bon Jovi.
if you want satanic lyrics, go full in and listen to Varg, Dimmu, Mayhem, Barzum, Darkthrone, Emperor or Bathroy.

ghost is the satanic version of christian rock. and that by its very definition is not metal.

its like saying because Dimmu has a piano solo song they are a Jazz lounge band.


I really do not like the music Ghost makes.
but if listening to ghost gets someone interested in better music and they move on and find something else then its fine.

so while they are not metal, I will never scold someone for listening to ghost. I will use it as an entry point. oh you like Ghost? have you heard Nirvana? how about Foo fighters, what about Nightwish? you might like some Falling in reverse here how about some alestorm. and after a few song sugjestions and interactions they dont listen to ghost anymore and they are fully into much better music.

Personally, I'd classify them as "Dark Rock", but I don't think that's an official genre? They often have that tritone common in metal, but the cadence and vocals just don't carry it into that genre.

I don't mind some of their tracks though. The riff on Cirice I find interesting, just needs some oomph :D

Ghost is a hard rock/doom ish band to me.

Their first 3 albums are fantastic imo, the newer stuff I struggled to connect with

Both these songs are about the same movie


Not sure if this counts as metal, but I love it all the same.
