The most popular programming languages in the world

Java, C, and C++ are the most popular programming languages in the world, according to the Tiobe Index for June 2018.

Other popular languages include Python, C#, and PHP, according to the rankings.

Tiobe noted that TypeScript also debuted in the top 100 index, gaining traction following its adoption by Google.

The language is a strict superset of JavaScript with extra type safety, thanks to type annotations, making it an improved version of the standard JavaScript language in certain cases.

Development languages is very much a popularity contest. How often does the guys that knows the latest greatest fad get the most money? Look at the number of job ads requiring X +5 years of experience when, the language has only been around for X - it's stupid really. Companies just wanna say we use this or that - whilst still wallowing in the same **** they have been for years.

The really big money is in jobs where the ad doesn't require any particular language (or perhaps uses a stock standard language like Java or C/C++).
