We have been doing research into Iburst for the previous year and a half.

Officially iBurst is the worse broadband service provider in SA.

Download and upload speeds are slower than Telkom normal landlines. During day times down and upload speeds are maxed at 4kb/s - 5kb's slower than a Telkom line in most parts of JHB. In PTA down and upload speeds are limited to 40 - 50kb's if you are lucky!

This is despite the system stating you are connected at 1mb/s.

Save yourself a lot of money and get a Telkom line instead.

Any other person who disagrees with this are advocating for Iburst and is probably getting paid to surf this forum in doing so!

Can we see some detailed reports from the 'reseach' that you & your company have done, or is it informal research?

Also, there's a flip side to the coin - are you advocating Telkom?

*I'm getting download speeds of 100kb/s on my connection in Centurion, I'm sure guys there get similar or better speeds...

Those are unfounded statements that you can't backup.

I'm getting supa fast speeds on my account and I'm supposedly in a poor coverage zone even though I'm within 2KM's of the base station.

So before you make any decisions, look at Sentech first and then decide if you still feel the same way.

By the way, have you even tried it yourself?

I get above 500kb/s during the day, and over 800kb/s during nighttime .. in Centurion.

And seeing that your professor is so cleve, maybe he can provide some proof, and also try to figure out why the modem says it is connected at 1Mb/s but getting lower speeds (hint: your network cable is connected at 100Mb/s, but it doesn't mean your internet line is 100Mb/s)

Bit of a doff statement! Give them the research stats you've bragged about and if proves your statement correct they will believe you, I'm sure.

Most forumites here are reasonable open minded people and are willing to explain themselves if questioned; they don't simply revert to swearing!

You obviously have no idea on how wireless works.... How is this iBursts fault that your UTD cant receive the signal properly..

If you get a bad picture on your TV, do you blame SABC 'cos your antenna is broken?

Yes iburst is ***ing in CT but that's not sufficient to state that iburst is a **** service. Bring on some statistics with proper conclusion to prove your statement jking

I have to agree to some degree about SOME iburst employees:

1. They have some monkies manning the techies desk

Personal exp with regards to the accounts dept and I can name a few users who's had similar exp with this

But in essence I've had pretty awesome iburst connection since the day I signed up... yes I've had my fair share of COD, billing issues, etc but that does not say that Iburst technology is "The most useless broadband "

You still have to compare it to Telkom owned DSL, Sentech and 3G
