I'm at my wits end. Stressed to the point where I'm about to throw up.

Basically I have a huge project due for a course tomorrow that we havnt completed. I spent the whole day trying to get Crystal Reports going on VB .net 2010 Express only to find out at about 4pm that Express isn't supported. So I got hold of Ultimate trial, installed and then sht hit the fan.

After a sucessful install, I ran Visual Studio 2010 Ultimate and I bumped into this error after ths splash:

"Exception has been thrown by the target of an invocation"

What the bloody hell does that mean? So after a nice Google search, I get a solution. No 5 solutions. No 10... Seems this error is cause by many things, and I have no idea what's caused mine.

So far I've tried:
Running VB .net Express - same issue.
Uninstalling all the dev programs and reisntalling - same issue.
Tried a few of the solutions on some support sites - same issue.

So with just over 12 hours left til submission is due, I cannot complete the project. Anyone know what I can do?

Hand in what you have, and start your projects earlier when you get them.

^^ What these guys are saying

Even with 12 hours you would be able to figure out Crystal Reports, I know people who've given up after years of trying.

Not trying to learn Crystal Reports. That's done. Just wanted to do it on my laptop as the labs are closed.

Can you try an earlier version of VS, like 2005/8 and do it on those.

Edit: have any of the "solutions" suggested formatting the laptop?

Havnt got earlier versions. And no, none of them have. But I'm probably going to now.

Does VS Ultimate automatically include crystal reports, or do you have to do 2 separate installations?

Yeah, ultimate included CR. Think I've looked at that thread. Let me check though

Windows event viewer might give you more context about what's going wrong.

Strange thing is, I can't find it in the event viewer. Stranger thing: I completely unistalled all features, reinstalled and now the error is:

Cannot complete task: Access Denied"

Going to install VS2010 SP1 and see if that helps.

Get virtualbox or vmware install a fresh copy of windows and try using that to install everything.
