- The MyBB Open Recipe Project -

So I am developing a Recipe Program.
Everything will remain 100% FREE... the software, the recipes, everything.

The software will run on Windows based PCs, Laptops and Tablets.

Project Development will officially be started in the first week of October.
In the meantime you can help by submitting recipes in the link below, or give ideas and suggestions to the software itself in the thread you are currently viewing.

*Your name will be credited with each of your submitted recipes.

Planned Feature list
- Searchable Database (by Any Keywords, Title, Author, Ingredients, Meal Type, Dish Type, Dietary Consideration, Rating, Serving)
- Find me a Recipe (Using only ingredients you have)
- Rendered Chopping board containing each Ingredient, hovering displays item name, clicking it brings up Ingredient Info
- Ingredient Info will contain Item Image, Title, Short Description, Substitute, etc.
- Scalable Ingredient Quantities (based on serving size)
- Voice Guide
- Theme Support for the GUI
- Photo for each recipe, with some recipes containing preparation shots.
- Favorite Recipes
- Personal Ratings System
- Meal Planner & Shopping list
- Touch-screen friendly for people with kitchen PC's
- Hall of Fame containing the Top 10 recipe contributors.
- Special .rcp file format, that will contain the instructions and pictures of each recipe, that can easily be downloaded or shared.
- Stats showing how many recipes you have, detailed with how many are vegan, healty, etc, along with each dish type (desserts, casseroles, breads, etc)

This is really a cool thing that you are willing to do for free. wow.

Well most of the work will be you guys documenting your recipe's and taking snapshots... anyone can submit!
I really envision this project going big and being filled with literally 100's of recipes to try out :)

If we pull together, we can do this!


So Ockie, have any great ideas to add some "sparkle" to the program itself?
I really want it to be super "feature rich"

erm...emergency once click list of take away places in your area for when it all goes badly wrong! lol

Sorry...I am very uncreative when it comes to things like this. :-(
 
O oo o o o ....i know i know. Voice guided instructions!!!! So it will read it out step by step and you can give commands....like "WTF was that last ingredient again" ... "sh*t....I ran out of coconut milk..what is the substitute?"

I volunteer to to do the voice

Hmm... the thing is I want all recipes to be installed locally on each PC... no need to be connected to the internet to use the software.
(I will enable it to update new recipes from the web though)

......but your own personal rating system, I can definitely do.
like iTunes.
 
No man I hate iTunes, the program will be nothing like that! Im just saying the rating system will be your own rating, not a global one.

Ive got a great idea that no other recipe program has, but won't give out too much, yet. :)
 
The Oracle Feature:

You type in a certain herb or ingredient and it pops up what it goes with best. Examples:

You type - Steak - It replies with : Red Wine
You type - Lemon -It replies with : Chicken or Fish
You type - Mayonnaise -It replies with : Everything you knob!! :mad:

Cant think of any more...but sure the guys like DJ can think of tons
 
DEADLINE FEATURE:

So...you just got home and it strikes "Holy mother .... I have guests arriving for dinner in 1 hour...that leaves you 15 minutes to degrease your hair, change your socks and pray to god the smell of arm pit is masked by a double spray of Issey Miyake. That leaves you 45 minutes to get something together for these kinda friends that you really wish would just remove you from their Facebook. You rush to your Laptop like a housewife on speed and fire up Keeprers yet to be named software and punch in 45 and it spews out all recipes of ETA's out of the oven of plus minus that time frame.
